In my case, I just set my account to automatically vote when my Voting Mana is close to 100%. so that my VM isn't wasted in case I am unable to vote before my VM becomes full. 😏

Oh I didn't know we've got settings for that... will take a look later. But at the moment I'm just fine like this. I seem to be every day between 75% and 80% so that is more than fine.
You might want to check out Hive.Vote (https://hive.vote/) for automatic voting. 🤓 I recommend that you vote only when your Voting Mana would otherwise sit at 100%. 😏

Talking about "boosting", which I understand now... What is actually "promoting" a post? Where it differs from "boosting" a post? Is it that you promote a post yourself whatever anyone else thinks about it and "boosting" needs to be approved (by who?)
On #Ecency, to Promote a post is to request the Ecency team (with practically a 100% approval rate) to show your post as an advertisement (in your chosen duration, where a longer duration requires slightly more Points) on the Ecency frontend, rotated with all other posts that are also being promoted. 🤓
On the other hand, to Boost a post is to request the Ecency team (with roughly 30% approval rate) to vote (curate) your post or long comment. 🤓 Anyway, I don't notice that the amount of Points you use to request to Boost a post or comment affects the chance of approval; it's about how long and good your content is that makes the Ecency team determine if they will curate your content (or just refund your Points). 😏
Damn, I got even a refund of my points... Don't know why that would be? Perhaps because the post is already 9 days old? According to your other comment that it would be rejected when te curation period is over...?... Hmmm in that case I need to consider quickly when I make a post, if I want to boost it or not...
Requesting to Boost a post (or comment) whose Rewards have already paid out at the end of the 7th day guarantees a 0% approval rate. 😅
It is okay if you try to request Boosting immediately every time you make a (long) post, for the chance that one (or more) of those posts get approved for curation. 🤓 Don't worry about the Ecency Points, as they immediately get refunded whenever your Boosting request is rejected. 😏

Ah ok, so if the request is rejected when the curation period is still ongoing, we also get the points back. So there's no chance on "loosing" points here...?...
I like to test as well as you do, so I've been boosting the following post now https://ecency.com/hive-193552/@svanbo/actifit-svanbo-20220603t214949879z for 500 Ecency points. After that I'll promote the same post :-)

Requesting a Boost to a post or comment that is already 5 days or older gives roughly less than 10% chance of approval, because the content is relatively too old (about 25% remaining time before payout). 🤓 Moreover, requesting a Boost to content that is already past payout time will definitely be rejected, because the upvote of the #Ecency team will no longer count. 😅

In my experience, Boosting gives more HP/HBD rewards (in case the Boosting requests get approved), while Promoting gives more exposure and comments and is practically guaranteed to be approved (though less Rewards than Boosting). 🤔😏

If you want more engagement (and upvotes) from a post you want to Promote, you should try to make the post title as interesting as possible. 😏 By the way, you can request the same post to be both Boosted and Promoted. 🤓

I thought we talked about this already, didn't we. I started a week ago or so with this automatic voting, and I like it a lot. Like this the people I like to support don't stay without my vote, and I can use my time better to do comments and so. Maybe soon to start blogging again... And when there's some tome left, I go to the feed to upvote some more manually. I'm now steadily between 75 and 80%, giving 30-40% in automatic votes. Adding people there will urge me to lower that percentage, but I'd like to grow a bit, so I can give a bit more than the (not even) 0,001, at the moment it's still going slow, but having the dust sweeper in place, comment more, and start to boost some posts, I'll get there....
What do you mean with "the people I like to support don't stay without my vote"? 🤔 Does it mean that those people won't stay on Hive unless you vote them? 😮 I also got confused about your "30-40% in automatic votes". 😅
It's fine to lower the Voting Power you use for every vote if you want to upvote the posts and comments of more Hive users. 🤗

I meant, that I don't have the time to go through the feed every day, and even when I do, it's possible that I'd oversee some posts of people who I'd like to support. With the automatic voting I don't take that risk, because it's voting nearly all of their posts (with a daily limit). The daily limit I've set to avoid that someone would start to abuse (even though... why would they... with my low Hive power they won't get so much... yet...) and that I'd drop my vote power to low) I'm now using 30% for some people and 40% for others. !LUV
