Finding Presence in a Coffee Cup

When it comes to enjoying coffee, I find that I need three core components to fully experience the moment. The first thing would be my mug. I have two mugs that I love to use when I make my coffee.

The first one is my white mug. I love it because it’s white on the outside and pitch black on the inside. This shade of black is so pretty, it’s almost mesmerizing.

When I use this specific mug, I am compelled to be present as I take in each sip of coffee. And that enhances the whole experience, making it ten times better.

My second mug is an adorable dark brown color, with what I assume is a swirl of dark brown coffee foams on its body. When I mix my coffee in it, I usually try to make it match the color of the mug itself.

I choose these mugs because they are the perfect size, and they insulate the heat of the coffee so I don’t get burned when holding them in my hand.

Another thing I love to do that helps me enjoy the entirety of my coffee is when I’m reading a good book simultaneously.

I’ve drunk coffee and read books together so much that when I think back to some certain characters in a book, I can physically perceive the aroma of coffee in the air, even when it’s nowhere in sight.

I sometimes would set up to read a novel, and upon realizing that I didn’t have some caffeine in the house, I’d pause the book and go out to get some. It has now become a part of my routine when reading.

Another activity that enhances my drinking is when I pair it with working on my computer. Usually I settle for music, which typically gets me in the mental zone of productivity. But I realized that adding coffee to the process also does wonders for my flow.

Not only does it increase my focus, but I also enjoy my coffee. There is just something about taking a sip of coffee, being hit with dopamine at each sip, and then dedicating it to work. I can’t explain the feeling in words, but it feels spectacular.

These are the three things that enhance my caffeine experience.

Thanks for Reading😊

I love your mugs! I have a thing for differently-colored cups, too, though probably if I had to choose, I'd go with the orange-brown one. It just seems happier in a way to me :) I definitely relate to your view of coffee. It can be a great companion for reading and study, but also lovely on its own. Cheers!

There is always that particular coffee mug that is hard to let go and gives one much delight. Your mugs are beautiful especially the brown one

The same thing happens with coffee consumption and the activities I do. I feel that coffee helps me a lot to get my ideas flowing. Caffeine is very powerful when we have to create or perform a job.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us.☕

Excellent day.

I have a collection of cups to drink coffee depending on the occasion; your post reminded me a bit of those moments when I meticulously select a cup and an activity; I usually drink coffee when I work, but sometimes I use it to meditate a bit. I like that you have varied activities while enjoying your cup of hot coffee :-).
