Summer has officially arrived in the UK this weekend. The high temperatures (30°c is very high for us!) makes looking after a black dog a little more difficult. For my #Sublimesunday and #BeautifulSunday I decided to find shelter in the forest.
The tarmac on the pavement absorbs heat throughout the day and can actually burn the paw pads of your dog, because of this it's advisable to only walk them early morning and at night after the pavement has cooled down.
Alternatively I'm lucky enough to live a short drive away from a forest where we can walk safely in the shade.
I also made sure to pack his collapsible bowl and plenty of water.
In order to stop him running around like a madman I stopped frequently to offer him some water and used the opportunity to take endless pictures of him.
Thankfully he wasn't feeling camera shy today and treated me to several catwalk, sorry dogwalk worthy poses.
I even revisited a location that got added to a Photography lovers Hotshots post a few months back.
This time improving on the picture with my model who decided he didn't want to show his ears anymore.
There were many Foxglove plants dotted around the forest. I kept an eye on Max here as they're extremely poisonous to dogs.
The trick to catching a picture like this isn't patience and timing, it's taking 20 photos and hoping one is in focus. I was honestly getting worried the bee was going to sting me with how long my hand was near him.
Max doing his best bee impression. Look at all that pollen on his nose!
After the walk I sat down with a mixed fruit cider and finally finished writing the Ice Museum post I've been procrastinating for weeks.
Not bad for a day that I thought would be a total write off due to the heat.
We gets high above 30s every day here and even now when we have some rainy days.
Good you have shaded areas for good walk.
