Jingle All the Way: Santa Charity Run in the Park

in SublimeSundayyesterday (edited)

I popped down to see the Santa Run in the local park. It's not just a fun event; it is a charity initiative that brings the locals together while supporting a local hospice. This annual event invites individuals to dress up in festive Santa suits. I've never seen so many Santas in one place before.

There's an option of competing in a 1500 metre race and a 5 kilometre race. It doesn't matter how old you are or what your fitness level is, everyone is welcome as you can choose to run, jog, or walk. Wheelchair users are also welcome as the park is accessible. I chose to just watch! Unfortunately, it was raining and sleeting when the participants made their way to the Cricket Pavilion (as I sheltered under a tree).

Once at the pavilion, there was a warm-up session set to lively tunes played by a local brass band. Christmas carols added to the festive mood, and a few refreshments were available for contestants at the end.

As I stood by the sidelines, I enjoyed watching the Santas setting off all united by a common goal: to support the local hospice. Thankfully, a Christmas miracle happened as the rain stopped and the sun came out.

A few reindeer were in attendance. 🙂

Ashley the Bear, who is the mascot for our local football team, was also taking part. Ashley was led around the course, so he didn’t trip up. 🙂

Everyone who finishes the race receives a commemorative medal and chocolates or sweets. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Wow! So many people joined in the event despite the cold weather! Such a lively and warming occasion. I would sit and watch the fun and event a hot chocolate!

That was my plan as well. 😆

Wow, what a fun event. Looks like the rain didn't dampen all the Santas' spirit.

It did mine a bit. 😁

So many Santa runners :))

Today many Santas were in our city too, but they rode motorcycles.

That sounds good! Much better than sleighs. 😄
