A Sublime Sunday With the Rickenbacker

For this week's #sublimesunday, as inspired by @c0ff33a, I decided to break out my fire-glo Rickenbacker for an improv jam session with Hattie. We bought a Loog three-string guitar for her for Christmas that happened to be red, so I told her I'd bring out my red guitar too. Thank goodness I kept this sweet Rickey...

I bought this guitar in 2001. I saved up about $1200 USD back then and promised myself I'd buy this guitar as a college graduation present for myself. I always wanted to go with the black Rickenbacker, as that was the one that Lennon always used, but I couldn't say no to that red color. It's such a beautiful guitar.

I always wanted to get a Vox amplifier for this one but ended up with a cheaper Peavy. Regardless, we had to rock out today. I played a little bit of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Hold Me Tight. I mean, I couldn't NOT play some early Beatles with Hattie today, right?

I know, not as exciting as pictures of snow, but it was too cold to be outside today. It was the perfect day to sit inside and jam a bit. Ms. Mabel wasn't a fan, but she'll get there. I mean, I had a slight hangover after last night's Green Bay travesty, and I could handle the noise.

The dueling red guitars...a fun adventure today, even though it lasted only about 10 minutes. It worked! Hopefully, everyone else had a wonderful #sublimesunday too! Until next weekend, we'll try to stay warm here!

I am so jealous of that rick. I used to help out a vintage guitar store and they had some amazing rickenbakers but since they were vintage they were way out of my budget.

Whoa, is that a 12 string? I always wanted to get one of those. That color is awesome!

I looked up my guitar on Ebay, and it looks like it has appreciated a bit in value. I should have bought more over the years, lol

Rickenbakers aren't mass production guitars so they should keep appreciating so long as people still like the beetles and tom petty. The one above is called a convertible because you can use the strange comb looking thing to pull down the lighter strings and convert it to a 6 string from a 12 string. The 12 strings have quite the beetle tone.

I love seeing people who love to play guitar. I do play myself but I haven't bought a good one yet. So I am kinda jealous but in a good way ahahaha. Keep rocking 🤙

Dam, that thing is sweet man. I have an ibanez and shecter, but that Rick has a sweet style. Its nice to play like we used to, ive been letting mine grow some dust, so that kinda sucks.
