The goat is standing in one of the ruins that was once a house in the abandoned village of Mosteiros on the island of Flores ( Azores). While hiking along the west coast of the island, the trail goes through the village. There are only ruined houses. Everybody left in 1992. There is a board at the entrance telling us about the village. The people left mainly because the were never connected to electricity. Many immigrated to either Canada or the USA. There were no humans here, except us. But a few domestic animals like calves and goats seems to have taken over, using the ruins as shelters.
