This past summer I spent just over a week exploring the Rocky Mountain in Canada. Many people are familiar with the Banff or Jasper area as they've increasingly become more popular to tourists. However the area I took these photo's in is less touched and much more wild still.
One of the excursions we made while on the trip was to an area called the David Thompson Region. Here we hiked a 20km round-trip hike through one of the local passes. Our goal was to reach the pass and shoot sunset here.
While the light didn't get as epic as we had hoped, it ended up creating these stunning pastel colors in the sky. Subtly coloring the environment. For me the biggest draw were these grasses that were growing in between the boulders. The textures and soft yellows of them just captured my eye. I know the mountains are usually the focus, but for me, the mountains are the support to beautiful fields that laid before them.
In this next image, it was the red brush like plant in the grass fields that really grabbed me. What a splendid mix of color and texture, dominated by the most spectacular mountain in the distance.
Although its almost been a full 6 months since I took these images, I'm excited to finally edit and share them. It's like reliving the experience for me. Thanks for joining the journey and viewing my work.

Gorgeous set of photographs Geoff. Personally, I think that delicate, soft pastels are equally as pleasing as 'epic' sunsets. It looks like an amazing mountain range that you were hiking through...
It really was a spectacular location to explore :) I'm already scheming for how I can make it back to this area. It's over 1300km away from me 🙃
But beautiful and incredible place to hike.
And yes! Sometimes those soft colors work - I think they did here :)
