Rotating Berlin
Camera Rotation is a special light painting technique. Here, the camera is rotated around its own optical axis during the exposure. Other movements are also possible, such as zooming, rotating around the axis of the tripod, panning, etc. I usually use this technique to set the scene for existing, already illuminated objects. But of course it also works with scenes that I light myself. Today I show you some pictures from Berlin with only a few, mostly two, steps during the rotation.
Camera Rotation ist eine besondere Light Painting Technik. Hierbei wird während der Belichtung die Kamera um die eigene optische Achse gedreht. Auch andere Bewegungen sind möglich wie Zoom, Drehen um die Achse des Stativs, Schwenken usw.. Meist wende ich diese Technik an um vorhandene, ohnehin beleuchtete, Objekte in Szene zu setzen. Diese Technik funktioniert aber natürlich auch mit Objekten die ich selbst beleuchte. Heute zeige ich euch einige Bilder aus Berlin mit nur wenigen, meist zwei, Schritten während der Rotation.

In this picture I also changed the position of the camera during the exposure.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?
Light painting is a unique form of art. The artist illuminates the scene with diverse light sources and paints light traces into the picture with various light tools. In addition, we use various other techniques, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited.
All our pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, our pictures are not processed on the computer.

I just got myself a new camera and inbetween rain/hail storms here am learning to use it and will be jumping into light painting asap!
I have not held a dslr since the 80's which was just a slr back then...so lots to relearn and feels so weird to be shooting with anything other than my iphone...

Except for accidental lightpainting adventures in the mid 1980 usually holding a jug of Bourbon and coke in one hand and my old slr camera in the other dancing on stage shooting the best Australian live bands for fun, I have never actually done any lightpainting and only discovered it just before xmas here on Hive- which is why I bought the camera (and still paying it off) and can't wait to have a (proper) go! So no need to apologise for infecting me with the virus, it's already been waiting, quietly as I gobble hundreds of youtube videos on it in preparation...🤣
