If we look at our history, we get to read so many incidents and we don't get any information about how many such incidents might have happened. In the history of most countries, there is mention of many types of wars and what used to happen at that time was that a person used to attack another state for his service and if he defeated the king of that state, then he used to capture that state. If I talk about my country, then the history of our country is also very old and there are many such incidents about which if we talk, they can never end. There were many such incidents whose effect we can see till today and if we see, then this thing happens that if any mistake happens in the past, then its effect is felt in the future.
I will tell you about an incident in the history of our country, which has an impact till date and we still regret it. This incident took place in the year 1193. At that time, the Gupta Dynasty ruled our country and the time when the Gupta Dynasty ruled was called the Golden Era of India. At that time, there was a very famous university in the Indian state of Bihar, named Nalanda University. Just like today, there are big universities in many countries where students come from every corner of the country to study, at that time Nalanda University was also something like this and if seen, it used to be a big deal to have such a university at that time because hardly any other university like this would have existed at that time. There were many types of studies in this university and the students who came here to study, used to learn a lot and it is believed that there used to be around 90 lakh books here. These books used to contain various information about our country's culture and country and information about other subjects. If you look closely, these books were not as thin as today's books, but manuscripts were used at that time and the bark of a tree was peeled off and written on it. You can imagine how difficult it used to be and the great people there had collected and stored so much information so that if any student comes to study, he can get various types of information and if he wants to do any research in this information, it would prove helpful for him too.
Although at that time India was going through its golden age, but the invaders were always on the lookout for attacks and they used to make new strategies to attack. At that time an invader named Bakhtiar Khilji entered the Indian state of Bihar and started capturing that state. At that time something happened to him that he got information about Nalanda University and when he got the complete information, he was surprised that which country has made so much progress and they have such a huge storehouse of knowledge.
Then he attacked Nalanda University and set the entire library on fire. It is said that this fire kept burning for 6 months because it had about 90000000 books. This was a very bad incident for the country and such a huge loss could never be predicted. You can imagine how much knowledge would have been contained in so many books and at that time there was no facility like computers like today that data can be backed up in many forms so that even if it gets deleted, the backup is always there।

Bakhtiar Khilji did this because the strongest root of a country is its education and if you destroy its education, its roots will become weak. Although many types of incidents used to happen at that time like an attack on a fort or an invader would forcibly take over someone's property and many such incidents used to happen but this incident of burning the library was the first such incident that happened. Due to this incident, the system was badly affected and where our country was making so much progress in the field of education that people from all over the country and abroad were coming here to study, that country fell far behind in terms of education because everything was destroyed. Its effect can be seen even today because there is such information which is still incomplete and there is so much information which was linked to the information of the time but now that information of the past is not there, then how will the information of the future be created.
