Good evening everyone. I hope all of you are doing well. I know technology is a very integral part of our lives. And it is growing rapidly. So I was thinking and raising through the internet about actual information regarding where the robotics industry does stand now. And the answers are quite interesting I must say. So I would like to share my findings with you all and maybe talk about where the industry is headed.
Let's just get the obvious information out of the way. Traditional robotics companies such as Boston Dynamics aren't the type I'm talking about right now. What I'm talking about is about the new crop of companies that are leveraging AI to better the robots. Such as Nvidia themselves, A new startup called Figure, etcetera. What these do, is use the normal robotics systems, and build a robot accordingly, and the change that is from the traditional ones we know is that the brain is not a hard-coded chip anymore, Rather it is an LLM or large language model. The robot from Figure caught my eye. This robot has the brains from OpenAI and it works like a charm. It is as much as I have seen, quite smarter than the other robots. It uses the OpenAI sponsored LLM to render responses, understand tasks. Currently the only update from the project is from a few months ago, when it was demonstrated in a seminar. But this particular type actually has a future. If you have been familiar with the tech world as of late, there is this new buzzword the AI companies are throwing that is AI agents. Ai agents are basically a small quantized form of an LLM that works on a specific task given there will be an environment in which it works. And if we only do that particular task, while you can give it some input to better its responses. Now if we implement these agents into robots, then these robots can become a master of certain trades. For example, a robot that cleans the floor. If we design an agent for that and give it as the brain to a robot, then this robot can do the cleaning much better than another general purpose robot. It's basically increasing efficiency by decreasing the number of things to do.
AI is booming. And the new releases from OpenAI, The reasoning models that can reason their response like a normal human being, and can answer accordingly, Will make a significant breakthrough. These combined with the autonomous robot industry, I think we are heading for a future where everyone will have a robot in their house as a helping hand.
