No One Cares About The People On A Budget

Hello everyone. Those of you who keep track of the latest new technologies in the PC world. Might be in touch with the CES 2025. And are seeing the technology being launched. With the key elements being Nvidia's new graphics cards, their new AI computing mini PC. And they're intent on putting new ARM chips for Windows into the market. Now, my issue isn't with all that is being launched, rather, what the actual situation of the lower side of the market is. As you all know, both in the crypto world and in the outer world, ai is breaking bounds. So many of us are trying to learn this new craft to get ahead of the crowd and maybe find a career in this. For that you need to learn how it works. You need to practice how to make things with it. For that, you need a very specific type of processing power. Specific type of support in the code base. And specific architecture set to support all this. Nvidia GPUs have been the pioneers in the AI compute space and their graphics cards have been the go-to solution for normal consumers to have a go with artificial intelligence. Mostly building LLMs, chatbots, image recognition software, etc.

The problem is currently in the market, there is no good graphics card in the budget segment that can do all these stuff. Nvidia, God knows what they're doing, probably only targeting the higher class market, while alienating the budget segment. Currently, in The $200 to $400 price segment, there is no good Nvidia GPU that can serve our AI needs at least moderately. All the cards are either capped with lower bus speed or capped with a lower amount of video memory. Important thing to note is that to run an AI model locally. You need a substantial amount of video memory so that the whole thing can be loaded onto that. And you need a substantial amount of bus speed so that the model can constantly influence between data points and compute whenever needed, without having any kind of bottlenecks. This is pretty demotivating for people like us who have a lower budget and can't spend the premium amount to get a very good graphics card, and get started. The only good thing at the moment is Intel. Intel's newly launched graphics card actually does a better job than the similarly priced Nvidia counterparts. And that is simply because of two reasons, it has more video memory so you can load bigger models onto it. And it has a little more bus speed so your model can run better.

But Intel GPUs are new to the game, and support isn't the best at the moment, but it is rapidly improving. Nonetheless, for Nvidia to be hailed as the shepherd of AI, it has a lot of catching up to do and the more price sensitive segment of the market. Yes, they are making a substantial amount of money while only targeting the higher class cards, but as a consumer I would like them to refocus on this part as well. Because judging by the data online, it really doesn't cost much to add a little more value to these budget cards.
