I believe we all have a special skill we are good at. That thing that brings joy to your heart no matter how sad you were. That special something that you can't do without. That thing that you don't mind being tagged with your name. That thing that you're so proud of any time any day.
My humble self, set for the day
I'm a teacher and I am proud to be one. A teacher is a nation builder. A banker deals with money, a farmer deals with the soil and crops but a teacher deals with the life of future leaders. The role of a teacher is very delicate and very important in the society. Without a teacher, the society will not experience transformational growth. And there won't be progress or advancement in the society. The society will not be able to compete favourably with others.
I teach junior secondary school students. I love this set of students because they are teenagers. They are my favorite. My job is not just to teach them but to counsel them and be a role model to them. A teacher serve as a parent to the students while in school. To guide, teach, protect, encourage and love them. I learn, unlearn, and relearn just to discharge my duties accurately.

Initially, as a child, I didn't want to be a teacher. Just like other kids, I wanted to be in the medical profession but before I left secondary school, I started to love the idea of being a teacher. I was discouraged by my friends and siblings that I won't make money as a teacher because teachers are not well paid in my country. I became sceptical about my decision.
The only department I could work excellently in church then was as a Sunday school teacher. I loved doing that and the children really loved me. That encouraged me more to pursue a career in teaching. I wrote Jamb and I was admitted to study Education. Four years later, I became a professional teacher and I've been teaching for over ten years.
Analysing a text with my students
As a teacher, I've encountered a lot of challenges that should make me quit but I've also experienced a lot of things that has brought me to the conclusion that I want to do this for life.
I may be really sad because of life's challenges here and there but as soon as I enter the school premises and see my students, there is this joy that makes me forget my problems. I become happy again until I get out of the school, before I remember my problems.

If I have the opportunity to change my profession, I don't think I would accept it. Fine, we are not well paid and we are not recognized but there is more to this job than the money and fame. I impart life positively and I want to keep doing it. I don't know if I may be able to derive joy like I do now in any other profession. I love my job and I enjoy doing it.
