I'm actually a person that is very conscious of my health right from the time I started understanding my health status.
I was born with a lot of challenges and I've been fighting since I was a child and I'm still fighting. All that is story for another day. I could actually write a book about my health challenges and struggles. So, checkup is something I cannot do without.
The last time I went for my medical checkup was about six months ago. Before now, I usually visit the hospital every month for my health and eyes but I thank God that everything is getting better by His Grace. It was a Tuesday and I had to go early because of the crowd that is usually at the general hospital on a daily basis.
I was really skeptical about going because of the time that would be wasted and the way most of the hospital staff usually behave towards patients. Sometimes the whole day would be spent in the hospital waiting to see the doctor. Sometimes it could be the nurses mixing up the files on purpose just to favor their preferred patient.
I was actually there for about two hours before I was able to see the doctor.
The doctor then asked me to go to the radiology department for the test I'm to undergo because they needed to understand some readings in my heart beat. When I got there, I didn't know what to expect. I met a male doctor with no assistant at all. He checked to confirm my LSHS number to know if I'm not fraud.
After confirming that, he asked me to go inside and I did. I entered the room with an hospital bed and machines that I do not understand.
He told me to remove my clothes from my waist upward and all my jewelry. What! I screamed!
I felt so embarrassed, I didn't know what else to say. I was like ' and my underwear'?😞 He said yes madam. He could imagine my surprise, so, he started explaining.
He told me that the wires am seeing are going to be placed on my chest areas for them to get what they want to detect. Thank Goodness I was putting on a top and jeans I was really embarrassed. I wondered why there is no female doctor there. I removed my top and underwear and all jewelry and lay on the bed. Without looking at me, he attached the wires on my chest and within few minutes it was over.
I quickly put on my clothes. Thank God for the doctor he tried to avoid my face as much as possible so that I won't feel too embarrassed. I went into the reception to wait for the test results within minutes, the result was printed and brought to me. I couldn't see the doctor who asked for the test anymore because I won't be allowed. So I had to visit the next day. The doctor examined the result and that led to other things and drugs.
That was my last check up and it was really embarrassing for me. We move again by April all in a bid to have a healthy life. I love life and I pray for health.
