My experience with leading small groups of people over the years at different organization has made me realize how difficult it can be to lead people not to talk of being a president for a day in a country with over 200million people.
Its no doubt that Nigeria is in a dysfunctional state. I've always thought the problem is with the leaders. Although the leaders do have their problems but I think the bulk of the problem is with the faulty foundation and system architecture. If the system is well structured, I believe there won't be room for some things and the level of corruption will be to the bearest minimum.
To achieve anything tangible within 24hrs will be very challenging. If I decide to appoint people that are capable of doing something extraordinary for the country, I'm not sure they'll last because they'll most likely be sacked immediately I leave the post. I'll settle for making laws that can be permanent for the benefits of common Nigerians rather than those greedy and selfish political leader. To make it easy for all to follow. let's make the laws ministry based.
All children in the country must be enrolled for at least primary school level for free. This will be backed by feeding them and paying parents some token at the end of each term for sending their children to school. I believe this will ensure everyone gets at least a primary school education.
I'll ensure to Stop ASUU strike immediately and put measures in place to prevent future occurrences. This will involve ensuring universities generate some funds by getting involved with cooperate businesses and structured alumni funding other than depending solely on government.
Encourage and legalize exploration of the web for source of livelihood which includes web 3 platforms like hive, cryptocurrency and forex and at the same time putting measures that will reduce cyber fraud.
Establish plan to be paying new post NYSC graduates for at least 2years after graduation. I believe this will ease financial pressure and reduce crime rate.
Establishing ways to financially support youths with entrepreneur ideas.
LEGISLATORS I'll Reduce their annual pay from about $2,100,000 to $210,000 which is fair and also ensure all their constitutional duties and community projects were done effectively which include prompt approval and adjustments of laws as necessary.
I'll approve laws that will empower local and neighborhood security agencies to reduce local crimes and kidnappings.
As regards current insurgency, I'll invest on procurement of up to date war equipment an well as personnel training.
SPORTS I'll approve laws that will encourage private sponsors to invest in local sports especially the Nigerian professional football league. This will improve the quality of the game, reduce the financial burden on the state governments and enable us to breed quality local players.
Sporting activities in general will be included in school curricula. This will include fantastic scholarship programs for children with sport talents.
- I'll approve a feasible means that'll ensure all federal roads are made safe for motorists. I'll also ensure funding of local governments to construct their local roads.
- I'll approve construction of railway tracks across the country with subsidized train tickets for ease of movement.
- I'll do everything possible to ensure stable electricity for citizens. This will surely improve living condition and enhance factories' capabilities
This is where the bulk of the work is.
Everything highlighted so far will definitely improve the economy of the nation but money is needed to fund them all
- I'll ensure mechanisms that check income from oil and gas to reduce embezzlement
- I'll facilitate restarting our refineries to reduce cost of fuel
- I'll ensure all agencies remit their income appropriately with mechanisms to check embezzlement and corruption.
- I'll ensure all other income sources like agricultural and mineral resources are explored to their maximum.
- I'll ensures mechanism of checking excessive salary payment like paying ghost workers or double salary.
A lot is needed to effect change and these are the crucial ones that can be explored here.
All I want is a better place for Nigerians and hope there'll be reduction in brain drain of important youths.
Above all, sincere and like minded people will be needed to achieve this. We all can play our parts daily to make our country great.
