My Dream App - A Marketplace

in Hive Learners2 years ago

I have always been interested in the information and communication technology space, and one thing that has keep me fascinated for a very long time is how capable our mobile devices, especially, our smartphones have become overtime, these devices have easily come to become a do it all device and the only limitation it has is currently based on how capable you can make them, and most times, our devices' capabilities are enhanced by application software.

So, if given an opportunity, if given all the time and resources required, what app would I create?

For sometime I have noticed a trend over the internet and on social media, people are selling more and more products daily, and my fellow girls/ladies, are taking huge advantage of social media to push their products and services.

It is a welcome development, as I see people going into more of drop shipping, affiliate marketing, branding, along with the sale, product and retail of numerous other products and services.

But there is a problem with how girls are going about this, especially when they do this on a personal level. There seems to be very little or no structure to it, they just do the business by sharing their products and services on their WhatsApp status and hopes that one or more of their contacts would need their product/service.

While this works for the short term, it isn't the best for long term growth and doesn't do well for business development and advancements. So, I thought to myself, how about attempting to solve this problem, after all, IT is all about problem solving.

So my app idea was born:

I introduce to you the app called:

Yarinya

If you're from Nigeria, you should know that we have three major ethnic groups - Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba. Yarinya which we may call my app, means Girl, Woman or a lady, it is the way women are usually addressed in Hausa language, and I believe that nomenclature is already inviting enough for any girl in Nigeria, she would feel at home with an app made by a girl, for girls and to empower them.

So, what would Yarinya do? In my tiny heart, Yarinya would be a multivendor marketplace to help girls like myself sell their numerous merchandise.

I envisage this app to be very simple to use, so as to cut the time between setting things up and getting ready for business. I know girls like myself are not always attracted to overly complicated things, so, I will focus on simplicity and ease of integration with systems they are already used to, such as selling on WhatsApp, WhatsApp business, Facebook, and more.

To ensure the app stands out, I hope to integrate payment options from within the app so that unnecessary debts can be eliminated as buyers would be encouraged to pay before product or service.

Also important would be proper inventory management and solid yet simple analytics so that we can be able to tell how well the business is doing over time.

With Yarinya, I hope to make things as easy and accessible as possible, cutting down on a lot of processes that would naturally act as a barrier between girls and embracing the IT sector for their businesses.

I can't cover all the details in just one post, but I believe it's something with great potentials - a market place app that allows girls to properly operate a full-fledged product/service business.

How Yarinya would make money!

As a multi-vendor store, we could charge a fee for registration (nope, that would chase some potential users away, at least we can reserve this monetization scheme for later).

For the initial stage, we could simply charge a percentage from all sales being made. At least, this should be enough to keep the system running and raise some profits for investors.

Why my app idea isn't anything novel, it is something close to my heart!

Now this is an innovation, one problem though, look like you want your app to be for ladies alone, why na ? Not fair, guy also sell stuff online. I have seen a guy that sells wig online, a friend of mine actually

Lol! It's for everyone shall. Though you know most times, guys are seemingly more clever than we are. So, they usually have things sorted out! But it's definitely for everyone!

Thanks for pointing that out Sam!
