Hello friends, welcome to this session of Creative Sunday where I will be teaching you all how to make one of the most popular street foods in Nigeria named Akara.
Akara is a street food which includes the combination of Beans and pepper. The major ingredient of Akara is Beans so if you don’t want to eat your regular boiled Beans, therr is a way you can go about it.
Ingredients in making Akara
Beans
Pepper
Salt and seasoning

Firstly, I started peeling my Beans by scrubbing it thoroughly with my two hands. The Beans has to be scrubbed thoroughly till there is no more shaft on the body. Well, it’s almost impossible not to get all the shaft away from its body but if you can, that’s the best way so that you will have a fresh and tasty Akara.
After scrubbing it thoroughly, you will blend the Beans. I used my Bucci mix blender to blend the Beans.
I will then mix it with pepper. This has to do with your preference. Some people love to mix it with well blended pepper but I mixed mine with the one which isn’t well blended.
After mixing these two together, I will add my salt and seasoning. When making Akara, we have to be careful of the amount of salt and seasoning we use. A little amount of salt can make it too salty so one has to be careful.
Then, this is where our vegetable oil comes in. You start to put small quantity of the mix in the oil and it forms a shape. When you press it with a fork and it feels fluffy, you can then take it off the fire.
That’s the last part of the Akara. Akara can be eaten with bread, pap or even rice but depends on your taste bud. I had my Akara with Pap and milk.
This tastes so well and it is the best way to have Akara ever since it has always existed.
Thank you all for making Akara with me.
Thank you!
