Comedy has become one of the fastest-growing industries in Nigeria, if not in the world at large. So much so that a lot of people use it in their quest for fame and money, as long as they have their phones and internet access, they could very well be the next internet sensation.
Comedy for now is just like having the gift of a beautiful voice, you could decide to become an artiste but unless you have a record label, you’re in for a long and stressful journey. However, in comedy, all that is cleared away. Thanks to social media and monetization of accounts, creators can now make good money from putting out good content on their platforms.
This led to the rise of a new breed of comedians. The days of stand-up comedy are no longer as prevalent as they used to be, and everyone is bowing down to the god of skits and short videos. That is where all the money is. It is also where all the megabytes and gigabytes go because it’s what a lot of us spend our data on.
So, what comedian takes up all my data like that?
Well, my favorite is Mr. Funny, also known as Sabinus. I discovered his brand of comedy back when he was just becoming famous and most of the things about him were still fresh and new. Back then, I think what drew me to him (I think the same thing that drew everyone else) was the way he always cried at the end of his video while Kina’s Can We Kiss Forever played in the background. And before I knew it, I was going through his platforms in search of as many videos as my data could allow me to search for.
He has a signature look, which is his dark blue shirt and black tie which is always short. Once he dons that shirt, know that the Investor is about to get into one mischief or the other. Especially when he begins to get into his “Investor Vibes”.
To me, one of his bests so far is the series he did along with his fictional neighbor Nedu. I so much enjoyed that series and the mischievous Edu that was always putting poor Sabinwa in trouble. Everyone gave Sabinus trouble, from Edu himself to his mother, sister, and even father who was also the caretaker of the house he lived in. The entire family just seemed to have it in for Sabinus, and by the time the video is coming to an end, you’ll be beside yourself with laughter.
Sadly though, he doesn’t really do that series anymore, but that doesn’t stop me from still enjoying his content. I love how he has grown consistently over the years and it shows in the way his content matures with him. He’s not one of those comedians that focus most of their content on making sexual jokes about women, as a matter of fact, it’s hard for you to find a scantily clad woman on his skit.
This is something he has managed to stick to over the years and I’m really glad it has been working for him. When I found out just how blessed this guy was when I saw a clip of him during a photoshoot. Note that it was a photoshoot, not a video shoot. They were simply taking pictures, and as the guy was taking poses, everyone was just laughing. Even the cameraman was laughing. Reminded me of the time Basketmouth mounted the stage years back and just stood there for a few minutes without saying a single word, just staring at the crowd as they laughed and laughed. That takes grace! Well, I also enjoy other comedians. There was a time Broda Shaggi was my favorite, but then his videos started getting too long with many of them being over fifteen minutes. That was when he began to lose me. Also, there is Brainjotter, Layi Wasabi, Anwar Jibawi, and a host of creators I enjoy their works. I can’t really get into all that now. I love comedy, it provides an escape from all the horrors we have to face every day as individuals maybe that’s why these guys are making so much money because many of us rely on them for our sanity. They give us a reason to laugh and smile if not a lot of us would be spiraling deep into depression. Comedy is life! So, to all comedians out there working hard to be original and make people like me smile, keep doing you. You have no idea what your content is doing to people!

Indeed comedy is life. This has helped a lot of people going through one difficult time in life to cool off, reduce stress and high BP. It becomes interesting when the comedy is not too lengthy but catchy. Those guys in comedy industry are making it large with our poor data 😂😂..but what can we do..it's okay since we get entertained and relax our nerves. Sabinus is also one of my favourite comedian, funny enough he bears same name with my twin brother
I love my comedy short and to the point, that's how he still operates. This is because most of the long videos are hard to keep funny for the duration.

Yeah... sometimes, checking out their throwback or first comedies, you'll marvel at how so much about them has changed.

Hehe... it gets them more vies and likes, so a lot of them have no issues with that. It's just business for a lot of them.
Yes dear, you are right about broda shagi. It was very rich for me before, but all of a sudden, alot of characters began to play with him and it also became longer than necessary. Me that have lots of things to do when will I have the time for that long video.
