There is currently so much that is going on right now, and at the moment, people are simply taking on things that on a normal day, they would never have even considered. One can factor in money as a main motivator to do these things, but then, is it really money? Because we’ve seen that societal acceptance can also be a major factor as well.
These days, people no longer care what others think about them. They simply do what they want without a mind as to how others will feel. And it’s okay, as long as your actions are not affecting others physically or mentally, and as long as you’re not committing anything illegal, then you’re perfectly capable of doing whatever you want.
But then, just because something you’re doing isn’t illegal, doesn’t mean that it doesn’t come with consequences of its own. With the way society is now structured, I really don’t blame those who are willing to push the boundaries of ethics and morals just to be able to make ends meet. The truth is, you can’t ever be in their shoes, and as such, you can never really know why someone will choose to do something.
You can’t know for sure why someone will choose to post spicy content on their Instagram, or why another would choose to be a hooker. The truth is, as long as it’s not us, we tend to view the world through the lens that everything is black and white. It’s either the right thing, or it’s the wrong thing. There’s no middle ground.
It’s easy to believe that there is always a choice, and there is always a way. Sacrifices have to be made if ethics and morals have to be upheld. Yet, the world is filled with people who chose to abandon ethics and they went far. Matter of fact, most of the most successful people in the world did that without any help from ethics and morals. Because for some, it would only hold you back.
So, what am I trying to say here? I’m definitely not saying that ethics should be abandoned, but I’m saying that when you see people who have a different view on ethics from you? Don’t judge them too harshly. You’re simply judging them based on your experiences and the battles that you’ve had to endure. Remember that your life is different and unique to you, your battles are also yours. And while you may have won it the way you saw fit, others chose to win theirs the way they saw it fit.
That is why at this point, I really don’t hold it against people who have shady morals because the world has evolved to the point where you can even be punished for being upright. I for one, refuse to let the world change me, and that is an uphill task, a daily chore that never ends. But not everyone is like me, and not everyone will see the need to keep fighting in a world that will keep trying to shove you into a box.
Still, I still relate with such people based on their actions. If you’re someone with a morally grey personality, I would not trust you, no matter how friendly you seem. I might understand why you’re who you are, but I also have to protect myself. I won’t judge you for being morally grey, but I also won’t place myself in a position where I have to learn fully, what it is to trust someone with such a personality.
Everyone has a right to be who they want to be, as long as they’re not committing any crime or hurting anyone else in the process, then they should have a blast. It’s their life. I would never associate with any criminal activity, no matter how little it may be. I’d rather focus on my own life.
If everyone would live life this way, maybe it would be an easier life. We should learn to stop focusing so much on other people and what they’re doing and figure out how to make ourselves better. The world is evolving at such a rapid pace and at this point, we need to catch up.
