You know, I’ve always wondered how things would be if we were allowed to access the internet for free. That is, it’s simply there for everyone and everyone. Data is no longer needed to be bought and you can do anything and everything online without being scared of running out of data. I can think of so many reasons why this would be a good idea. However, except when you look at it from the point of view of a businessman, there is no downside to this at all.
Because so far, we’re not really enjoying this so-called internet. I for one, I can say that I’m not and it’s because of the network providers, nothing else. It can be very frustrating to live in a school environment like mine, highly developed and all, with so many youths who are active on social media and the like, however, we’d have to suffer network issues. It’s irksome.
It can be annoying when you spend your last card to buy data, however, you end up not using them all simply because there was never enough network for you to enjoy it. You could only use it a few times before it expired. It’s painful, I must say.
And all this is coming from someone who has at least two sim cards and a router as well, yet I’m still struggling with network. Sometimes, I just wonder if the router is any different from my phone because there are periods when I can swear that my phone gets more network than it does, even with the weird-looking antennas.
So, if we’re paying for this data and we’re still suffering like this, then why don’t we just stop paying? Let it be free for all then. Let’s know that if we want to enjoy the internet, then we’d move to where it’s more active. It’s just like the beach, the beach doesn’t come and meet you in your house, you go and meet the beach. In our case, the internet was supposed to be in our house, under our bed, and even in our basement, but many times, we find ourselves having to spend long hours outside, raising our phones as if we’re in perpetual salute all because we’re looking for a network.
It’s frustrating, but what can we do? Paying for inactivity can be so disheartening. It’s just like paying your electricity bills but still getting no power. Or subscribing to cable and not watching anything. So, there are enough reasons for these guys to just pack it all up and go home. Let it be free for everyone and let’s know what we’re doing with our lives.
But then, we all know that is never going to happen. The telecommunications industry is just too lucrative and they will never back down. Data and airtime are just like food, no matter how bad the economy gets, people will still buy them. Even when people are hungry, naked, and on the streets, as long as they have a phone, they’ll still buy airtime. And if the phone can access the internet, they will definitely buy data subscriptions.
And then, they don’t care about this. They ignore the fact that people browse better and burn their data faster when the internet is reliable and fast. They’d rather keep milking us off all the money that they can and not do anything at all to make things any better. Well, what can I say? I’m just another random customer.
Thank you for this.
Buying data subscription and see it expires without using it due to poor network can pain like a cutlass cut.
I usually have that issue with my Airtel network, hence I dumped it and switched to mtn and fortunately, I met the same subscription pattern in mtn.
As in ehn... we all have to resort to using multiple sim cards now simply because one can never be reliable.

Today the same thing is happening here in our city because there is a protest and they have slowed down the internet, it is not even working but the MBs are dead, people are in the same trouble and they can't even do their work.
As in ehn... when these things happen, nothing much changes and it only gets worse.
Yeah right
I have thought about it several times but who will I tell my story? Network is just one of the things we are struggling with in Nigeria despite paying for it.
I don't even stress myself anymore- if it's working, I use my phone and it's the other way around, I just do other things.
Omo... it's just frustrating. Seeing how everything I do is online, I simply start watching movies or doing some chores once the network begins to act up.
Honestly it feels like a university thing, because initially when I started school, I had the poorest network ever, I think they installed a new mass because My network is more better now. Honestly I think you guys need a mass, too many students trying to access the mass, equals poor flow. Thanks for stopping by.
My brother... there are masts here ooo! It just doesn't seem to work. When the network comes, it comes in full swing. But when it goes, your phone can just as well be on airplane mode! That's how bad it is.
Omor, I'm out of words
Nothing is free in this present world. But I feel free internet facility is very much possible in the future world. In my country now there are free wifi facilities and I believe it will be extended in all places and the Internet will be free for everyone.
Wow... this will be good if it can be replicated here.
