Sometimes when I think of the lengths some criminals go just to rob their hapless victims, I shudder to think about it. Gone were the days when robbers would simply rob you of your phones and laptops and cash and simply leave you alone. Back then, if they wanted to get into your bank account, they had access to hackers who would do that for them. If you were fast enough, you could hurry to your bank and block it before they would break through your security and wipe out your account.
That was then, now it’s a totally different ball game. Tell me, why would criminals would be going around with POS machines? When they come to rob, it’s no longer a quick operation where they simply get in and get out, they are now pretty relaxed. They mandate their victims to make transfers through their phones, wiping them out. It’s crazy.
All this makes you wonder, right? What would warrant such confidence on their part? Why would they be so bold as to take up so much time to do their job? Well, I guess they’re learning from their legal counterparts as well. It’s no different from what some corrupt officials of the police do to young people these days. You’ll be stopped on the road and you’d be made to transfer money to them. They would check out how much you’ve got in your account and use it as a yardstick to determine what you send to them. This is nothing but robbery, but it’s backed by the law.
There is really nothing that we can do, because as long as the system refuses to accept the fact that there is a problem, then they would never see the need for a solution. The only reason robbers can be comfortable enough to hold a place down for hours and ravage it without fear is because they know that they won’t be disturbed by the police or anyone else.
Hence, the people in that area suffer from it greatly. Almost every night is one battle or the other as people have to take great steps to ensure that they don’t fall into the trap of some criminal. Funny enough, the area that is ravaged by these crimes is basically untouched by the police presence. That is what gives the robbers the courage to do what they want. You would never see police officers patrolling that area or searching boys down. I’m sure if they searched men there the way they search us in this part of town, they would uncover lots of illegal weapons.
However, far be it from them to actually do the job they’re paid for. I live in the saner and relatively safer part of the area, and as such, we’re the ones who get to suffer the heavy-handedness of the cops. We’re the ones that get harassed and we’re the ones who have to stomach it up because going against them is not going to end in your favor in any way. These guys will leave the criminals and come after ordinary civilians. It’s just painful.
But then, when you think about it, my area could be safer from criminals simply because of their presence. But that’s a very limited view because I don’t feel very safe at all. Just the sight of police vehicles is enough to give anyone PTSD, there is a lot of trauma to unbottle where those guys are concerned. I can only hope that the system takes charge and helps push forward a revamp that will ensure that these guys take the interest of their citizens to heart.
It’s for our own good.

Honestly speaking, I don't know what's going on in terms of the mentality of people anymore, crime has become somewhat legal be it an actual criminal or a corrupt official. Carrying pos around that's a whole new level, the redemption we need is to teach the young ones better than the way we are.
As in ehn... Even as we're teaching the young ones, the activities of everyone around them undoes the teaching. We're in big trouble ooo
Thank you for this.
I feel police and thief both are equally same. Both of them violating laws and a threat for general people. System needs massive change.
As in ehn...
The system needs total change indeed! It's about time.
