Guys… I need help! I don’t know if this is how it is all over the country, but for the past few days, the amount of heat that has been plaguing us is just too much! It’s almost as if we’re being cooked right in our beds, and it seems to be getting worse with each day that passes by. No matter the measures you take, the only thing that seems to work now is a constant power supply that would ensure steady fresh air. Because so far, natural air seems to be lacking.
There’s nothing quite as frustrating as waking up in the middle of the night to a sweaty bed. Not that you didn’t bathe before sleeping ooo, just that it didn’t matter. It also didn’t matter that all your windows are open and curtains are raised high to allow for ventilation, it’s only by great discipline that you chose not to open up your doors as well, due to the intensity of the heat. Yet, none of that worked.
This is how bad we’re having it. Omo… I don’t think it was ever this bad when I was in Owerri, or maybe my location then was just more airy. Because this thing I’m going through now ehn… it’s just frustrating me to no end.
And to make matters worse, a steady power supply is currently in the mud. Yesterday or so, a message was trending online that the national grid was experiencing some “disturbances”. Yeah, they were using that word because they were tired of using the word “Collapse”. However, we know them very well. And we also know how long it would take them to fix the disturbances that are plaguing our dear grid.
But this is not the end, turning on generators would have been the best, but in this present economy, the heat might be more bearable than the brokenness that will be borne of you turning on your generator through the night, every single day. Of course, there are people who can afford it, but in the long run, it might end up not being a financially sound decision.
The best solution to this is to utilize solar power. This hot sun that’s boiling us all can be used to power gadgets and devices that will in turn make us all comfortable. Installing a reliable solar system in the house now is expensive as hell, but in the long run, it might end up being the smartest decision. Because it’ll greatly reduce the amount of money one would be paying on fuel and generator servicing.
I could toe this path, and I’ve really given it much thought. However, the more I do, the more I see that it’s a bad idea. So far, the roof of the building I live in is a no-go area for a solar panel. In this kind of area, it won’t be impossible for me to go out and by the time I return home, new owners (thieves😂) would have taken possession of it. I could decide to put it on the ground, but there are a number of kids who play football in my compound, the panel won’t last there either.
I’m still trying to figure out a solution for this, but in the meantime, the heat is getting more unbearable. At this rate, it’s beginning to look like the sun is mad at us for some reason and is just unleashing its wrath unchecked upon us.
For me, I’m even managing. After all, I’m always at home and the harsh sunlight is just another reason for me not to step out of the house. The people I pity are those who have to go to and come from work every day under this kind of sunlight. I really wish them the best, because it’s not easy at all. The last time I went out in the sun, I almost fainted due to how harsh it was. And before that, the last time I was in the sun was when I was still a student, the day that I defended my final year project! These days, I just try my best not to enter the sun, and if it’s not important, then I’ll do it from my home. Life isn’t that hard!
I just hope that things will get better soon. The weather will lighten up and this grid issue will be fixed so that I won’t have to be fighting with sweat when I should be having a good night's sleep. I just hope it all works out well.

Thank you for this.
Working in the sun is not pleasant at all, especially in intense temperatures. I keep thinking about the generator issue. Luckily, my neighborhood doesn't suffer from power outages these days. However, when I was a child, there was always a power outage. The biggest problem was at night, when we had to use a "lamp" to light up the house, which was similar to a "torch."
Omo... it's not easy at all. Power outage is something that we still suffer a lot. Although they've fixed the grid issue now, so hopefully, it won't be all that bad anymore.
As someone in the uk would barely have to handle 20c and in many cases just burn so easy i don't think i would last an hour there working, so you have my respect, but i do hope a solution to the heat problem is able to be presented to you
It's not like we can turn down the heat of the sun...😂
The only viable solution is constant power supply so that wherever we go will have good cooling units, like fans and air conditioners. We could also plant more trees, but we both know the government doesn't care about all that.
I can understand the situation as I also encountered the same situation last summer. I feel that going to a low temperature country is the best solution.
It could, but then maybe the cold will chase me back! I've seen that I'm always complaining about the weather😂😂😂
