COMPULSORY CHECK-UP MIGHT JUST BE THE WAY TO GO.

in Hive Learners9 days ago

While some people here are concerned that making health checks mandatory is an infringement on the human rights of individuals, I stand here wishing that this infringement which would, in some way, improve the quality of my life happens right now. Do you know what it takes before I get myself up to go run a checkup, even for something as my eye that's causing me issues? You know the mental talk I have to give myself to get up and get out?

A friend of mine followed me to the eyr clinch where I was to get my eyes checked and all of that. While there, the opticians asked if she would like to have hers checked too for a fee and as I probed her saying I would clear the fee(because she said her sight was fine and she was okay) she agreed to it. Long story short, it was found that she suffers from glaucoma astigmatism or whatever it was called.

And you know what? It didn't just come from nowhere. There's a history of the glaucoma defect that runs in her family which her father and brother suffers, but since she'd never seen/felt the symptoms manifest as it did with them, she assumed that she was fine. And, that made her recall the very few moments she had minor eye issues, which she dismissed for one reason pr another. You see, check ups!

See, I’m one of those people who could go years before ever they feel sick. Often, I go down with a headache, and I'd take glasses of water, and once I take a long nap, I feel better. I'd usually boast about how some persons ask why they'd never seen me fall sick. Until recently. Recently, I realized that I would have catarrh, and then everything goes downhill from there. I realized that my system needed some more attention.

I really don't see why we rules have to be made for us to go get checked when it's all for our individual benefits. It's sad that people would rather wait until they fall terribly ill and have to spend huge amounts to get checked and treated, rather than just going for a hospital check that would likely find the ailment in time and treat it when the signs and symptoms haven't caused havoc.

We say it so often that health is wealth, and a lot of us have seen very healthy people drop down dead. People who had never shown signs of weakness. Most times, the root cause of their death is traced to something inside of them that a health check would have detected and which could have been prevented. I wish we would do better.

And I'd appreciate that such law is passed. Even if it's once a year, people should make the time and go get checked. Jail time as a penalty for defaulting? I'm not sure about that. Paying fines? This would be good, only that my people in this region would rather pay than go(depending on the amount). I just don't know, but I would like people to take their health more seriously as it would improve the quality of their lives.

Thanks for gracing this post.
Greetings!

It would be great if it was free. But if it isn't it would affect a lot of people.
People who don't have money for these check ups will fall victim to the punishment. And what would they do when they are fined?

I completely agree with you, sometimes it takes a wake-up call like your friend's diagnosis to realize the importance of regular check-ups.

This is so true!
It usually takes hearing that a person collapses or even dies due to a low/high blood pressure for people to feel an awakening. And it's not right.

Making it compulsory would definitely help a lot of people go seek health. In the long run it would yield positive results.

There is this thing with people and rebelling against direct authority that never ceases to amaze me. Isn't it funny that people would rather pay a fine than do what saves their lives?

Honestly, mandatory medical checkups will save a lot of lives and money.

Humans can be very negligent and mistake foolery for smartness.

Mandatory checkups are just the best way to go.
