On a norm, we are all entitled to freedom of speech. Let me say what I have to say. I need to pour out my mind. Yes, it's okay, and that's how we need to live. But is this what we are encountering in today's life
?
The first time I heard about freedom of speech was during the reign of former Nigerian Military President Ibrahim Babangida. I was still young, but I understood what was going on in the country

Dele Giwa was killed by a letter bomb because the government believed he was saying more than necessary. This restricted others from saying what they feel like. It was a pure infringement of the human rights
There was a time I was blocked on Twitter for replying to someone for speaking ill of my country. The conversation got hot and when he reported to the officials, I was blocked without any prior investigation on the matter. I was mad at my phone screen. Lol. It was very difficult to reach out to them but at last, my account was restored and he was blocked
Of course, it's our right to speak freely without being censored. We are all entitled to our opinion. We feel happy when we find ourselves in a place where we can talk limitlessly. It encourages us to give the best we have to offer
That is what a pure decentralized system has to offer. A place like hive a typical example of a free speech community where everyone can talk irrespective of their status. And if I may ask, are we not finding it fun? We learn from every bit of argument and no one is ready to take it extra mile because we all believe the platform was made from from one voice
The importance of freedom of speech cannot be over emphasized in all ramification as it gives people the spirit of self belonging and that's what can make any communit/society/organization have a drastic development
To give fairness a chance, freedom of speech doesn't mean we should go about defaming people. It's highly against the law to talk ill of someone when he's not done anything wrong to deserve it. If information carried against another party is false, that has gone against the limit of freedom pf speech. Of course, we are free to talk, speak, write and communicate our view, but when it's at the detriment of other for personal gain, It's vibrantly against the ethics of the freedom of speech
Freedom of speech makes us grow as an individual. It helps to create a communication link between diverse people and it encourages friendliness. If we can have a positive mind towards it, I'm sure there would be no censorship. If you know you would be angry and offended by anyone saying the fact that would hurt you, then keep your hands clean. We are all bound to make mistakes, but if it's minimal, there would be no cause for alarm

Freedom of speech is a great tool its just that the generation of these days misuse it and feel its okay to do woth.
Nice post
Fact. Talking anyhow in the name of freedom of speech has made it an abuse. I believe it should be sensibly moderated to keep it at a unique standard.
People tend to abuse this right to freedom of speech, using it to sow chaos and discord among the people. Hopefully, in time we all will learn.
Thank you for sharing this with us.
