Ever since we were all born we have been doing volunteer work without knowing that we do. Let's take, for instance, when we were in secondary school or even primary school. We do clear the grasses and plant farm produce for teachers. Some of us even went as far as going to the teacher's houses to wash plates or wash clothes for them voluntarily.
At times we assist on Saturdays to clean our environment, from gutter to weeding grasses and making sure our environment is free of Mosquitoes.
Last year's festive period, there was this stuff they usually do in my compound, but I don't know what happened, and they suddenly stopped. And few concerned youths and I decided that it was time we brought this activity back, and someone asked who would pay us for the services. I just told them that we don't normally receive payment for this kind of stuff, but they all sighed and walked away, I was disappointed in them.
We all benefited from this same activity while growing up, so why are they acting like they never benefitted. Well, the older women and I decided that since the youths are looking for payment before they can help, the women will join me in distributing it. I know everybody is wondering what it was, wonder no more.
Every year, we share used textbooks, clothes, foodstuffs, and scholarships; sometimes, they just pay School fees for three terms to the less privileged and average families. I benefited, so I am also happy to assist whenever it comes to this. Most people who even benefitted from primary to high institutions don't even care now again.
With the help of my friends and the elderly women, we shared the textbooks, set exams for the children, and gave the ones that made it scholarships. We share foodstuffs among the elderly and some people who are not from our compound too.
I volunteer to carry medication for medical outreach in every compound using the village square as the point for meetings. I was so happy to assist in doing all these things.
I volunteered in many ways; when I was doing my national youth service, I went for what the NCCF (Nigerian Christian corper's fellowship) called rural rugged. It was more Christian things; we did medical outreach in the community, we braided the women's hair for three straight days, mended their clothes, and even shared clothes and foodstuff with all. Those elderly women who don't have anyone to help, we assisted. I serviced in the southwest; we gathered firewood for them and filled their pots with water.
If you go for volunteer work with all your heart, I don't know about others; there is this joy and unmentioned fulfillment that fills your spirit, soul, and body. You might just remember some fun things that happened and you will just smile to yourself. You will get to see how selfish some people are and how pitiful some people's conditions are, too.
If you haven't gone volunteering before, try it, and you will be glad you did.

Thank 💕 you for stopping by my blog
Well, speaking of duties we undergo while in school, it is definitely nothing short of forced voluntary work. To make matters worst I attended a boarding school which means doing school environment work is something that occurs on a daily basis.
This is very admirable and honourable, I mean it takes a level of unity for people to do something like this successfully, we also do something similar to this but it is church related activity that occurs before Christmas.
Ok, some of us did it voluntarily
