My view of government and private organizations

Hello everyone, how are you doing? Welcome to my blog.

GOVERNMENT OWNED VS PRIVATE OWNED

“We all know that many times people prefer services that are operated by the government due to the reliability. However, for other cases, they prefer the private sector. From schools to power and health sector. So, tell us about your experience with the public and private sector. What are the perks of both sides? Which is your preference?”

When it comes to government and private sectors, a lot of people have their opinions as to which is better than the other, but I must say both the government-owned organizations and private organizations are important parts of a country's economy.

The government organizations in charge of various aspects like health care, education, electricity, and other sectors are majorly nonprofit organizations with the government subsidizing some of the products and services. On the other hand, for private sectors, it is strictly business-oriented with the exception of a few organizations known as non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

It's important to note that it is private individuals that make up the government organizations, and the reason why I said that is based on the fact that particularly in my country, Nigeria, there are people who work in government organizations and own their private organizations as well.

The reason why this is so rampant is the fact that sometimes either there are no proper checks and balances in the government organizations or the people at the top are just corrupt, diverting allocations for personal purposes.

Some years back I had a toothache, and I needed to have an extraction. I went to the general hospital in the town where I was staying, and after getting a card and following some procedures, the doctor in charge told me that the equipment for the extraction was faulty and there was no light to carry out the procedure, so he took me to his private clinic where I spent more to have the procedure carried out.

Secondly, I remember during my senior secondary school days I attended a government secondary school, having attended private school from crèche till junior secondary, and the whole system felt different because some teachers really didn't care about the well-being of the students; some only came to clock in and clock out, and at the end of the month they got paid. This made it relatively difficult for most of the students in government secondary schools to match their mates in private school during interschool competition.

The recent government has changed some of these things in order to keep some of these government organizations in check, and this has also made most of the services rendered by such organizations increase in price because they now have to generate funds in order to run.

On the other hand, private sectors have systems in place to keep members of staff in check; this doesn't mean that they don't have their bad sides too.

I learned of an organization that paid their staff in the middle of the next month just to keep them so they could pay the salary for January in the middle of February, and just like that

Government organizations and private organizations have their good and bad sides, but I think private organizations contribute more to the development of a country's economy.
