Hello friends,
This time, my family’s Creative Sunday was something truly special! I was at my brother’s house with his family for winter vacation, and I decided to give this Sunday a creative twist. Creative Sunday is a day when we step away from our usual routine, explore our creativity, and most importantly, spend time with our loved ones.
I made this Creative Sunday even more special by preparing a creative dish—Chhole-Batore. The chhole had the perfect masala, and the batore were soft and fluffy. Everyone loved them! It was a family recipe that I added my own twist to, ensuring each bite was full of flavor.
Ingredients
1 cup chickpeas (chhole)
Salt, turmeric powder, and water
2 onions
2 tomatoes
1" Ginger and 7-8 garlic clove
1 teaspoon Chhole masala powder
2 potato
2tablespoon oil
Whole spices (black pepper, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, cloves, and green cardamom)
Ground spices (turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder)
Fresh coriander leaves for garnish
Preparation:
Soak 1 cup of chickpeas overnight in water.
In a pressure cooker, add the soaked chickpeas, potatoes, water, salt, and turmeric powder. Cook them until they are soft.
For the masala, heat some oil in a pan, then fry 2 chopped onions until golden brown. Add 2 chopped tomatoes, ginger, and garlic, and cook until soft. Once the mixture cools, grind it into a smooth paste.
In the same pan, heat oil and add whole spices—black pepper, cinnamon stick, cumin seeds, cloves, and green cardamom. Fry for a minute.
Now, add the ground masala paste to the pan. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder, and coriander powder. Cook the masala until it is well roasted.
Add the cooked chickpeas to the masala, potato, chhole masala powder and mix them well. Adjust the consistency by adding water, and simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
For Batore:
1 kg refined flour (maida)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
Water (to knead the dough)
Oil for frying
2 Eno
Preparation
Mix all dry ingredients
and add water to form a dough. Let it rest for 30 minutes.
Then, divide it into small portions and deep fry in hot oil.
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with Bhature.
Enjoy your delicious Chhole Bhature!Creative Sunday was not just about cooking it was an entire family bonding experience. Spending time with family and exploring our creativity together is something that truly matters.
