My Daughter's First Picnic – A Special Day

Hello friends,
A couple of days back, my young daughter attended a school picnic. It was a special day for her and also for me. She woke up early in the morning, being excited and cheerful. There was a twinkle in her eyes while preparing for the picnic. I thought of taking her to school personally because it was the first picnic for her, and I wished to feel confident.

We arrived at the school at approximately 7 AM. The place was buzzing with activity—children giggling, chattering, and parents observing with a blend of excitement and apprehension. My daughter was ecstatic to be surrounded by her friends. I could see she had brought along a small backpack containing a water bottle and some treats

I accompanied her to her class teacher, where her friends were congregating. Then, I waited outside along with other parents, observing our kids. The teacher lined the children up to take them to the bus around 7:45 AM. Their enthusiasm could be seen through their smiles and happy banter. Everyone was taking photos to immortalize the moment.

By 8 o'clock, the kids were in the bus. My daughter waved at me through the window, and I waved back, following the bus until it was out of sight. It was the first time she was traveling far from home alone, and I couldn't help but feel nervous.

The picnic was at an amusement park in Lucknow. The kids had a fantastic time, enjoying various fun activities. The 👩‍🏫 kept us updated by sharing photos in the WhatsApp group. Seeing those pictures reassured me that my daughter was having a great time.

The kids went back to school at 4 PM. I had already arrived by 3:45 PM since the teacher had been keeping us updated. When my daughter alighted from the bus, she seemed exhausted but had the widest smile on her face. She rushed to me, hugged me tight, and enthusiastically began to narrate to me all about her wonderful day.

This was her first picnic without me, but filled with happiness. And perhaps for me too, it was a new experience see my child grow, take small steps of independence, and welcome the world around her.

That was one experience she would not forget in a hurry. You won't forget it too cause it's her first trip away from you. The firsts are always memorable. I'm glad she had a swell time.
