We are not longer applicants. We have been selected already! But then, why do we need a partner again? These and many more were thoughts and questions that raked through my mind when we were told that we need a partner for the task.
Don’t get the wrong idea! This Initiative has done a good job to bring me out of my shell, by giving the chance to connect to people. I cannot appreciate @starstring1 less for this great opportunity, and guess what! I have met a lot of lovely people on this space.
But then, seriously I found it stressful and difficult asking people,”Do you have a partner already? I’m available!” I did anyways.

MY PARTNER
Guess what I met on the quest! I met a Ghost!
Creepy, right? I was as scared as you are too.
Though he customized it as ‘ghoost’ as his username, but it still sent me the same meaning as the original(ghost). You may ask yourself how we came in contact, and I will tell you.
The first person I asked if available had a partner already. I went on to ask the next person, and Ghoost who happened to fall in line then, was the next person available.
Surprisingly, it was fun getting to know Ghoost. He was not as creepy as I thought, afterall. Ghoost is nice and cool. According to him, he romantic(I don’t know about that though😀!)
We are both newbies on Hives with just two months experience. We are like lost birds, looking for our way on this great blockchain!
His name is Fahad Nana Toahil while his username @alghosty. He hails from Ghana. Being a Biochemist, he is a graduate, preparing to serve his father’s land.
WHAT I DISCUSSED WITH MY PARTNER
Having gone through the task together, we were lost on what to discuss because the topic is explanatory by itself. After some time of confused thinking, I asked this question,”How do we go about these goals?”
He replied, “I would like one of our goals for the three months to be to connect to powerful hivains”
His reason was that powerful hivians have a higher and more powerful upvote to help one Excel on Hive.
It made a lot of sense to me!
Also, we discussed our goals and how to achieve them. I had them listed.
• increase in reputation
• Quality content
• Growth in HP
• followers
• engaging more
WHAT I LEARNT FROM THE MEETING
• Specific: The goal must have a focus.
• Measurable: There has to be an handy plan to achieve it.
• Attainable: Do not just build castles in the air; It must be achievable.
• Relevant: Not just because I was told to write down my goals, but because I want it.
• Time bound: There must be a set time to achieve this goal.
He continued that, setting SMART goal is not the only criteria to it’s achievement. Numerous people have webbed themselves to setting these goals, but they are nowhere to be found. To achieve this goal, you must write it down and put it where you can see it every day. Determination to achieve the goal is also key to accomplishment.
He advised us that this formula should not end with hive only, but we should make use of it in every aspect of our life.The meeting on Sunday was anchored by @starstring1. He explained explicitly on how to achieve a SMART goal. He made the explanation explicit and clearer with the acronyms S.M.A.R.T. I will explain them to you and how it caught me. In setting a goal, it must be:
MY HIVE GOALS.
There is a saying that “if you fail to plan, then you have planned to fail.” What I plan to work on are:
- Hive power: my Hive Power presently is nothing to write home about. Currently, I have 35HP. I do not have any vote value, so I hope to increase it to nothing less than 500HP.
- Hive reputation: Not only in number, but also my personal contribution to the blockchain. Currently, my reputation is 54. In the next 3 months, I hope to attain nothing less than 60.
- Followers : Currently I have 15 followers. By the end of the three-month initiative, I hope to have attained, at least, 80 followers.
- Badges: I envy the beauty that badges give to profile of some hivian members. I would love to have them too, so I have it in my goal plan.
- Number of comments: Right now, I have a total of 187 comments and I hope to increase it to 800 comments by the end of the initiative.
HOW TO ACHIEVE MY GOALS
For these goals to be achievable, these are what I want to do and the processes I will take:
• Hive power: To achieve my feat of 500HP, I will make sure I post quality contents and participate more in contests, which will, hopefully receive more curation and upvotes. I will also power up as much as I can.
• Reputation: To achieve a reputation of 60, I believe through more curation, through regular posting will get me there.
• Followers: To attain up to 80 followers, I will be more active by engaging with other hivian, making friends with them, and joining hands with them to make the blockchain a better place.
• Badges: By the virtue of the relationship built, I will learn more about badges and how to get them from my fellow hivians on the blockchain.
• Comments: More comments means more engagement in different communities. For now, I will focus on hiveghana, hivenaija, ladiesofhive, hivelearner, and others, commenting on at least 3 posts each day.
Hopefully, I can achieve more than my set goal, if I can consistently keep on with my plans with determination.
