We have all been accused of something at some point in our lives. Some of us may have been guilty, some others, completely innocent.
But all in all, people must have pointed a finger at you and said the words, "You did it."
I have been accused of a lot of things in my twenty one years of existence. Before I get to what I am going to write about, I will talk about a few things.
Firstly, I am always accused of removing the skin of chicken and eating it, for this I am always found guilty.
I have a very good reason for my action. I mean, why are they always hanging out just begging to be pulled and eaten?
If you ever find me in your house and the skin of your boiled chicken goes missing just know that I am responsible.
Another thing I have been accused of, being pretty🌚, well that is definitely something I'm guilty of😂.
So……
It's finally time to tell my tale.
During my second year, I decided to be extra serious with my studies. Year one had come and gone. My results were not bad but weren't as good as they could be.
Like Sheldon from the big bang theory, I carried out a survey and the results came back that most of the serious students went for night class right from the beginning of the semester and so my journey of attending night class began.
It wasn't the safest choice with the robberies and clashes but I was determined to be a serious student. So most nights, I left my house when the day was still bright and would read throughout the night. I went on like that for some weeks.
I did my night class at the engineering block of my campus.
On this particular night, the school gen was switched off earlier than usual so l aligned myself with a couple of engineering students to share their lamp, when they restored power supply I didn't go back to my seat.
Instead I spent the rest of the night talking to one of the guys.
Eventually he told me he was feeling sleepy and politely asked me to watch his phone while it charged and if I wanted to sleep, I should tap him.
I agreed.
Unfortunately we must all succumb to nature and eventually I slept off.
I woke up to a harsh tap on my leg. The guy I was talking to stood glaring down at me
From my sleep induced brain, I heard, "Where is my phone?"
I blinked looking at the table where his phone was supposed to be charging and it wasn't there.
I knew that there was a problem.
Human beings will always be human beings waiting for drama.
I was an outsider in their faculty.
The situation had taken a turn and I told them that I didn't know where the phone was because I slept off too. It wasn't only his phone charging there and all the other phones were still there.
More people joined and they suggested that my bag be searched.
I didn't have my friends there to back me up. I was all alone being accused of something I had no idea of.
Refusing would only make me look guilty so I handed the guy my bag. The noise was already causing people to wake up and everyone was already looking at me.
That has to be one of the most embarrassing situations that I have ever been in. To even add to my embarrassment, it was that time of the month and my girly items were inside.
Nothing was found and then someone suggested that they search me. The matter was escalating.
Just as they were about to search me, a phone rang. The guy that owned the phone touched his pocket and I saw the realization in his eyes.
The apologies kept pouring in after that.
He "suddenly" remembered that he had taken the phone and put it in his pocket, in the middle of the night and since he was still sleepy it had skipped his mind.
I was so embarrassed. I left that block to another classroom. I stopped going to night class after that. My house was more than enough. I told my friends and they laughed saying, "Shey, you want to be a serious student."
I saw him a few days later, he tried to wave but I frowned my face so hard that the hand froze in the air.
I learnt a very important lesson from that day, actually I learnt a lot, like don't agree to help someone watch their phone, don't go for night class without your own lamb and most importantly, never talk to boys again.
I'm sure he was just as embarrassed. He made a scene and embarrassed himself as well when the truth was discovered.
Pretty chicken skin lover, glad you were exonerated. People hold things with them and forget those things are with them.
Good piece here
Woah!
His apologies weren't genuine especially after he was ready to make sure he disgraces you.
It's good as you frowned at him, his greetings are not needed anymore.
Thank God they found it when you were still there and you were vindicated, People would have concluded you took it. I'm sure the guy was as embarrassed as you were.
