It is the first episode of week 150 of this wonderful initiative by the Hive learners community and it is an absolute pleasure to once again submit an entry to this community.
We live in a capitalist economy where each person is mostly out to make profit for themselves, sometimes to the detriment of others. The economic model being employed makes it so that the power largely rests in the hands of private individuals who own businesses to determine their pricing and a lot of other relevant factors pertaining to their business.
I believe humans are fundamentally not too different from the primal animals out in the wild who instinctively carry out their most base desires without hesitation or consideration. We however have the advantage of possessing highly developed cerebrums capable of advanced thinking and inhibition of those base desires. However, some people seem to just switch off that part of their brains and just succumb, with or without intent, to their most base desires. Desires such as the need to be completely callous and rip off the next human in unbelievable ways just for some few extra bucks on their part.
Profits drive our society to humanity's detriment.

I largely agree with this specialist. If you do come across any business trader who is fair with you and does not attempt to extort or manipulate you, hold them close because they seem to be the exception.
My experience I will be sharing is not exactly with an actual trader and it is actually very recent as it happened in the last month. I'll try to recite it as concisely as I can.
So I joined a local tungba band shortly after graduation, just as a means to get some exposure as a guitarist, because the monetary pay was never really all that. On the 14th of December, I got called for a gig. I had never been to the location I was given and did not realize it was very far from my place. I got there very early that day at past 10am, since I was told that's when the wedding would start. This band leader wasn't even there, he had traveled to Lagos that morning apparently, without telling even the people that hired me. He was giving the cockamamie excuse that he had arranged for someone else to perform in his stead. His absence gave rise to multiple issues that day, starting with the planned sound engineer disappointing. Long story short, we ended up not being able to perform that day and almost gotten beaten up by the relatives of the couple in fact. I also incurred extra expenses on behalf of this gangstar that day because I had to go into town to look for a new sound engineer for us to use on his behalf. There are a lot of finer details that I have left out, but I hope you get the gist by now.
This bro refused to pay me for an entire month, despite multiple calls, texts, and after all the time and energy I spent there that day, stating that he had to return the money he was paid to perform to the couple. But what should that concern me?
If you're comfortable with taking the largest share of the profits, you should also be willing to take the largest share of the losses when they arise occasionally, especially when they are due to your own negligence and dubious behavior.
Most of my other experiences with traders or tradespeople have been positive, or neutral at least. I really don't go around harbouring negative experiences, so I can't remember them. The only reason I was able to say the one I said is because it is still very recent.
Avoid duplicitous people.
Welcome to the end of my blog post. Have a great week.
Thank you for curating my post and finding it worthy.
