As the only elder son at home right now some responsibilities naturally falls on my shoulder, when it comes to Nigerian Yoruba parents you don't have the authority to negotiate duties. at some point as you grow older you can say no to some duties but mom has a way of making me feel like doing that specific duty in the house is a way for me to set an examples to my younger siblings.

I woke up this morning like every other regular day, my daily activities is the same. sleep, eat, write, read, sleep again, eat, then sleep again. a very simple life but it is just an illusion. it only goes like that on days my mum is not around because she will always call my attention to something even if has nothing to do with me.

i was aware of their plans to go to market today but I was not aware of the fact that I will be tagging along till I was informed by my mum, going to market especially on days such as monday is a vibe killer. going to the market is fun at times but SABO market which is located at ikorodu Lagos State has a way of frustrating people naturally. from the unnecessary traffic due to commuters blocking the road with their vehicles to the narrow parking space in the market that is never In order.

We had a lot of things to buy, a very long list. our first stop in the market was the rice seller, it was so crowded. my dad went into the shop to make enquiries about the prices of a bag of rice.I was shocked when I saw the prices, I never knew a bag of rice has become that expensive. the weirdest part is local rice seems expensive more than foreign rice and it has different colours.

Eventually we bought the rice even though we were not too happy about the price, it was more than the amount we budgeted but rice is known to be the most consumed food in Nigeria so we can't do without it, we had no choice but to buy it.

We stopped to buy some brooms for the compound which were also expensive also, the prices of every goods and commodity doesn't seem to remain the same for long.

After that we stopped by to blend some cassava flour/wheat.

The woman is a regular customer of ours, we usual bring different cassava yam to her, she is not the only one that does that in the market but her price is endurable compared to others in the market.

Our last stop was the frozen fish market, though it is not located inside Sabo market, just a few miles away from the market. it is so crowded there are a lot of people there with different purposes. a lot of people who patronise this fish market are mostly retailers but since we are buying a large quantity we decided to branch.

It is a very large place, it took us hours before we could eventually purchase what we came there for. by then I was already famished, just trying my best to stand on my feet.

I got home, decide to put it into writing before I finally embark on a deep sleep which will be happening few minutes from now, it was a very stressful day indeed.

Hehehe. I am always scared of visiting large markets because of how crowded they would be especially having little space and you will see different commuters passing through it, leaving no room to walk freely. Everything is now expensive, thanks to inflation for not pitying we, the masses. Lol

At this level, it is only God that can rescue us.

Glad you joined up to the market today πŸ˜ƒ. You were able to take these pictures without being questioned. Taking pictures in the market is always a challenge to me . I appreciate it when I see who is able to do it. Hope market prices of things are reducing hahaha.

Well, it all depends on how creative a person is in handling the camera because some people might be offended by it.

It is not going down oo, at this level we might need to start looking for other alternatives.

Trust mother's, maybe when she was discussing the shopping she was mentioning your name to stylishly tell you that you will be involved but you didn't code on time.

It's go you go to the market so you understand how it goes too. Am glad you didn't say no to the request.

Probably.

I would have said no if I could but it was not a request πŸ˜‚.

Thanks for stopping byπŸ€—

I really don't know what it is with local markets in Lagos and stressing someone out. I dread having to go to the market because each time I'm done with my purchases, I always feel drained of all my energy without any reserve.

It seems you understood exactly how I felt, it took me hours of rest before I could regain my stamina.

Most times I prefer going to the market without my mum, mothers can make you spend longer hours in the market for reasons best known to them. Well done πŸ‘

That is true πŸ˜‚πŸ˜…

Going to the market on a market day is always very stressful, the pushing and pulling in the crowd and that shouting of the sellers trying to advertise their goods. Thanks for sharing your experiences with us.
