Ever since social media monetization came into play, the internet space has greatly been affected. And before where we used to see great and inspiring contents it is a different ball game now.
Then we had real content creators, those people doing it out of love but now we have a lot of people creating content for money's sake. Now what I am trying to say is that making money using mobiles isn't bad at all especially with the situation of the country but doing it out of proportion or without common sense is the issue and now I believe that common sense isn't common anymore. Why will a full grown man and wife be walking around wearing panties in the name of content or a woman turning herself and baby to a mad person.
From the beginning it was very easy for us to spot real chefs who went to culinary school and rightfully earned their certification However now everyone is a chef so long they have a nice kitchen and utensils they are good to go.
Also all of the above mentioned are not the issue, the problem is the fake news that don't waste time to fly around all in the name of getting engagement on their post which is becoming very alarming. Content creators must have designed trending celebrities obituary and posted it online meanwhile he or she is still alive and breathing fine. A lot of these celebrities have come online to clear the air they are still alive which is not supposed to be so. And then you also see a lady come out claiming she was impregnated and left to suffer deforming another person's character just as in the case of Ola of Lagos only for her to later come out to apologize that it was just for fun. Fun they say after tarnishing Someone's image. Some months back I watched a nollywood celebrity who is yet to even get married talk more of having children photos flying all over the internet that she was pregnant and has given birth because of how the graphic design was presented that made family and friends keep coming to her DM to confirm the news.
Much as a lot of people are going about things the wrong way, I won't say social media monetization is the worst thing ever done because a good number of people are taking advantage of it for the wrong use others are using it to empower themselves and the masses. I can't count how much knowledge I have acquired from a few sensible creators that have helped me before and even now, like a lot. It has also helped some discover their hidden gems and are working towards perfection It is left for the people now to decide what they want to watch even though these contents pop on their fyp.
Social media monetization is actually a good thing that has happened to many persons, it has become a stream of income for so many people.
Indeed, monetization is the best thing that happened to social media
We are all saying that earning money through the internet is not bad, but the people here today do wrong to people for referrals and trap them there to get a few bucks and they suffer a lot of losses, so these things should not be done.
