Unforgettable Moments of the Year

in Hive Learners7 days ago

Every year has its own ups and downs, there are lots of challenges and there are joys at the same time, this year taught me more lessons than I expected, this year gave me the best gift of friendship, and also prepared me ahead of tough times, there are many lessons I learned and will never forget about any one of it.

One big lesson I learned and will never forget is never to mix business with family, there should be boundaries in anything you are doing as a business owner if truly you wish to succeed in such a line of business, do not involve family in your business, it is very important.

Two months ago I got a call from my sister and requested that two of her friends come to town they needed a make-up artist because they were coming for their friend's wedding ceremony, I was so happy because business was a little bit down and I needed some money desperately, I quickly called my vendor and sent my list to her, she arranged my product which I quickly grabbed before the weekend.

All my thoughts was that I would get the money after I finished the make-up, the weekend came and I went to the hotel room to glam them up, it was a sour experience with them, though I learned how to control my temper when dealing with some stubborn clients, I was rushed and one of the ladies was talkative, she always chews gum and she is not a calm time, I just have to cool myself.

After the make-up, I told them to transfer my money into my account and they told me they had paid my sister, I turned to my sister and asked for my money she started telling me stories that she would send the money to my account, I was so restless because the sister I know will never pay me, I was disturbed and made me want to talk back at my sister, I left the hotel room angrily and went back to my house

I thought my sister would always have my back but I was wrong about that, she put me into debt and made me look stupid in front of the clients, this was an unforgettable experience for me in this year, mixing business with family can amount to great loss, I had to replace the money I used in getting those makeup products back and since then I haven't had a smooth conversation with my sister, I learned how to deal with my clients directly without any third party involved when it comes to the issue of money.

My sister reported me to all my siblings and my mother that I was rude to her after she gave me clients, she cooked up stories against me and my family thought I was the bad person here, it was a really challenging moment of the year that I had to cry into my hard-earned money, she ripped me and also blamed me for everything that happened.

How can I forget a terrible situation like that, a situation that put me in trouble because I lend the money from my friend to buy those products not knowing that I was going to suffer for it, I had to pay the money back and cut everything that has to do with my business and family, I told her never to find any client for me because she is very Conny when it comes to the issue of money.

This is my response to today's episode of hivelearners community prompt of #hl-w145e3 which the topic is tagged UNFORGETTABLE

It's really sad to see you went through all these. What's worst is when you see who caused you such pain was your sister.

never to mix business with family

This is a great lesson that's always easy on papers but so so hard to practicalise even when we've known it could be disastrous because when a family comes knocking on the door most times, we just can't say no and some of them do take our generosity as weakness which is always so painful.

That's so sad for real... She should have even paid back for the cost of products used at least

Business should always be separate. Whenever money comes in the middle of a relationship, that relationship is damaged, so it is better that each person's business is separate.
