Hello Learners,
Every single human being on the planet wants to be happy. But sometimes it’s hard to figure out what will make you happy and whether it will last. As someone who has dealt with their fair share of depression, I can tell you firsthand that being happy isn’t always easy. The good news is there are simple things you can do today that will help you start your journey toward happiness.
The purpose of our lives is to be happy. ~ Dalai Lama
Start with a plan of action
It can be easy to take a vow of happiness, but then fall into a slump because you didn’t take action. Your happiness isn’t a destination, it’s a journey. Sure, it may be a journey you can plan for, but it’s not one that you can map out in a day. There’s a balance between planning, and trusting that you will be guided along the right path. When you plan, you set a time frame. When you don’t plan, you may have no idea what you’re doing, and therefore, you may do nothing. That’s not how you want to live your life. You want to live life, even when you’re depressed. You want to get out of bed and start your day the right way. You want to go out and see your friends and family. You want to spend time with your partner and kids. You want to write, paint, or work on your passion project. Planning is important because it keeps you on track. It keeps you from losing steam. It keeps you from giving up. It keeps you from feeling like you have no control over your life. Planning helps you to feel like you are making a difference. Planning helps to remind you that even if you don’t feel like doing something right now, you have the power to get yourself motivated again. But, don’t plan too much. You don’t want to end up exhausted and overwhelmed by the task at hand.
Take care of yourself
If you’re not taking care of yourself, then you may as well be trying to take care of someone else. You’re not going to be happy if you’re not healthy. Getting in shape is a great way to boost your happiness. You’re not going to be in the best place mentally if you don’t take care of yourself by eating a balanced diet and getting some exercise. You’re not only going to feel better physically, but you’re going to feel better mentally as well. If you’re not eating well, you may be tired, you may have low energy, and you may even be depressed. Being happy starts with nourishing your body. Taking care of yourself doesn’t mean that you don’t have a job or a family or responsibilities, it just means that you don’t neglect the most important things in your life.
Be kind to others
Life is hard. Things are going to get messy, and they’re likely to get even messier. What’s important here is that you do the right thing and be kind to others. You may be going through a difficult time in your life, or you may be struggling with a terrible illness or you may be experiencing a rough patch in your relationship. It doesn’t matter what the reason is for your unhappiness. What matters is that you recognize that it’s there, you deal with it the best you can, and you be kind to others as often as you can. If you aren’t kind to others, you may hurt yourself even more. Being kind to others means that you recognize that other people are human beings with feelings too. You are not better than anyone else, and you are not entitled to happiness. Being kind to others means that you have compassion for other people’s feelings. It means that you acknowledge that others have feelings too, and you don’t hurt others to make yourself feel better. It means that you acknowledge that you are not better than anyone else, and you don’t think that you deserve to be happy.
Write down your goals
If you’re not writing down your goals, then you’re likely to forget them. Goals get you ready for the journey. They help you to plan your behavior, so that you don’t do something crazy, or so that you don’t end up hurting yourself even more. Start with a small goal. It can be as small as reading one chapter of your favorite book each month, or as small as going for a walk each day. Keep your goals realistic and focused. Your goals do not need to be something like, “I want to be a millionaire by the time I’m 40.” Instead, try something like, “I want to be able to afford a nice trip to Hawaii, once a year.” Keeping your goals realistic and focused will not only make your goals more achievable but will also keep you from setting yourself up for failure.
This is great, setting goals is very important and also getting strategies for achieving your goals is also important, as it will make you know his to plan your day to day activities.
Most people just set goals, but lack strategies. So this lack of strategies may hinder them from achieving this goals they set.
