THE KIND OF MUSIC I LIKE

The mid of the week is here again and its expedient that one must be deliberate to stay focused towards the actualization of all goals. For the topic of this edition, it is based on music, and I am happy to put forth my entry. Before I proceed, I would like to define a few things.

Music is an integral part of human endeavor. All humans are musically inclined, either directly or indirectly. Music entails the combination of rhythm and sound to form a melody. Music has great influence in the life of humans. Recently something happened in the house where I lived. This happened during the weekends. The woman had three grown-up daughters that belonged to the music group of their church. On this fateful day, she went to work and returned home late; unfortunately, she couldn't meet any of the children. They've all left to attend a music rehearsal. She wasn't happy at all, but what would she do? The children had to align with what suited their purpose and passion in life.

I noticed how intoxicated one could be just because of music, even to the point of staying without food or engaging in other activities.

Music has lots of significance in the life of people. As for me, I have so many instances where music transformed me positively. Right from when I was much younger, I started music owing to the fact that my father was a clergyman. Our house became the store where all sounds were kept. This gives me the opportunity to develop myself even without a mentor at that moment. At times, even when parents wanted to send me on errands, they would change their minds just because I was engrossed in what I was doing.

Something happened when I used to play local drums for a group in my church. A time came, and we went for a competition where I was the major drummer. I at first wanted to entertain fear but along the way got motivated and encouraged to cheer up. I rebuke the spirit of fear resonating around me to give way. That's how I was able to navigate, and finally we received an award.

Music has affected me positively also in the area of worship. I like worship so much; therefore, whenever I have the opportunity to preach, I take up good moments to seek the presence of God via worship. This normally revitalizes my spirit and sets me on the right course to share God's word.

Music brings realignment of thoughts. There were moments in my life when I was downcast, feeling negative about how life is. One of the things that brings focus and harnesses my thoughts easily is music. When I start playing some instrumentals, it cuts deep into my emotions and stirs me to delve into God and to pray.

As I conclude, there are so many songs that normally inspire me; hence, picking a particular song as the best would be very difficult for me. Let me just attempt to say the song rendered by Steve Crown titled You're Yahweh. There was a time the song almost became like an anthem for me. I like slow patterns of music compared to the fast ones.

Thanks.
