Knowledge at the finger tip: The truth about the past and the future

in Hive Learnersyesterday

I was watching a movie recently titled "The Forge," and in that movie, a man said, "It is good to learn from your mistake but it is better to learn from other people's mistakes."

After I finished watching that movie, that word struck me,

It is good to learn from your mistakes but it is better to learn from other people's mistakes.

You ask me, "Is knowledge at our fingertip a good thing or not?" or let me put it this way "Is easy access to knowledge a blessing?"

In the olden days, what makes a person a genius is that he or she has little knowledge about everything. You ask them about science; they have an idea, you ask them about sport; they have something to say; you ask them about politics, and their profound knowledge will amaze you. The reason why many people feel left out back in the day is because they didn't have easy access to education or knowledge.

I heard the story of a man who went for an interview after studying all night and doing his research so he could be the head other interviewee. On the day of the interview, he saw a woman going into the interview room, and he said someone called her name. I memorized the name and searched for her on LinkedIn, got her profile, and from what she has on her profile, he was able to relate well with her and pass the interview.

Such information might be somewhere in the library, but if easy access to information is taken from him, then I doubt he would have been able to do some quick research on his own and come up with a good backup plan.

The easy access to information today makes us more knowledgeable than our predecessors.

I am currently taking a motion graphics course from home, where I am learning everything there is to know about the subject. If I had to navigate a time when acquiring knowledge required a greater effort, I would face a difficult choice: I would either have to give up my job to pursue more knowledge or stay in my job and forgo the knowledge I seek.

Are we any more intelligent or smarter than our predecessors, who had to travel miles to the library just to seek knowledge?

As the day goes by, we continue to see people who are breaking records in every facet of life because they work smarter and are more intelligent. If you agree that our predecessors are more intelligent than the current generation because they have to travel miles to the library to seek knowledge, then there shouldn't be technological advancement, medical breakthroughs, and so on.

People don't need to travel far to have access to people's research, learn from their mistakes, and make an improved version of what existed before. Because of this, we can see how education has been made easy, and even the old people can observe things that are going on in other parts of the world and even outside their field of study.

You study public administration, but you know some basic things about space. You are a genius because you have access to this knowledge.

Although knowledge is easy to access, more people are knowledgeable, they are less creative. People rely on AI that is toxic thing.

 yesterday

Know, getting knowledge from AI and relying on AI are two different things. Well, some people don't want the knowledge they just want a machine that can solve all their problem.

 yesterday

I feel our predecessors are more intelligent because of how much time they spent reading.

 yesterday

Lol, We also spend more time reading just that we aren't going far for the knowledge we seek. Its something we can get with him, and beside, we have references and other things that can board our knowledge on what we seek.

Remember we are talking about if getting easy access to information is a good thing. Would you rather go to the library to know the meaning of JEOPADICE just because you don't have dictionary but the only place to get dictionary is the library and it is some meters away from your house.

As the world advances, the more breakthrough we get, so we can say we're smarter and yes we're at an advantage because we have everything at our fingertips.

 yesterday

You are smart. You understand this topic very well.
We are smarter because of the advantage we have, the information people rush to school to get or library to find can be gotten with ease. We read it, learn what we need and apply it. simple

Exactly!

Is the you study public administration for me?

Yes, knowing something about everything is possible because of the level of access to information we have now. I enjoyed reading from you

 yesterday

Ahahah, did you also study public administration? Because I did.

I am glad you enjoyed reading what I wrote.

Yes dear....thank you

Everything was done to better our needs but every good always has a bad.
But we keep working on the bad.

Exactly. We keep working on the bad to make it better

Intelligence is knowing merit of the effort and having learned everything empirically. I think that has been lost a lot today, new generations want everything easily and effortlessly, and that tends to have loose and lazy citizens, who do not worry about studying because everything is already on the Internet.

I wonder what would happen if one day a debacle occurs in civilization and lose access to the Internet and technology, having to return to ancient methods? I am sure that the answer will be that we are full of useless who do not know how to do anything because they have no way to look for it online.

The funny fact is, its the ones that need the knowledge that look online for it, the ones who are lazy won't study books nor study online for it.
