I chose this topic for the weekly contest write-up after seeing the question posed on the Discord channel, which I know startled a lot of you.
For many of us, we already have an idea of what 2024 will be like. What is that one event that will take place in the new year that you're looking forward to? How important is that event to you? Please share with us.
It was then that the idea popped into my head. At first, I did not want to talk about it, but then, there is no harm in sharing one or two spices for the year 2024.
The must-attend wedding for the year 2024 is my cousin's wedding. He is like a big brother to me; I respect him a lot, and he is the oldest grandson from my mom's family side, so yeah, everyone was expecting him to get married soon. There was an uproar when he brought home his girl as everyone in the family expected him to visit them with his fiancée.
There are so many things that makes this wedding a must-attend wedding and the starting point is that the wedding has been planned since last year (2023). My cousin lost his mother at a very young age, so the drama and argument over who will stand in to represent his mother have been going on. Drama.
If you haven’t expressed the planning process of a real Nigerian wedding, then you’re missing a lot. My mom, who happens to be the first daughter of my grandparents, is just so calm about the whole planning process, while her sisters have been making plans that we aren’t even sure of.
Currently, there are two Mc (masters of ceremonies) for the wedding programme, and this happened because two of my uncles wanted to show off, so without informing anyone, they invited the person they believe would be the best Mc, and that’s how we now have two Mc.
The best part of this wedding is that my younger siblings won’t be around for the wedding, so I will be the one to experience everything and give them the full gist of what happened. I can dilute the information any way I want. I’m not going to lie or anything.
Also, I get to meet my other cousins that we haven’t seen for a long time. It’s going to be a great wedding because this is the first wedding in the family from the mother's side. It’s going to contain a lot of drama, and drama is what makes the event very interesting. Nothing bad is going to happen. I love my family because we love ourselves. The wedding is gonna hold on the 27th of January 2024. So you’re all invited to join our amazing wedding.
