Hello, guys, I trust you're having a great Saturday; thinking about it, today is the last Saturday in the year 2024; by this time next week, we will be in 2025. It feels so surreal right? I know.
How did we move from telling each other, "Happy New Year," the other day, and in a matter of days now, it will be another new year? And it's amazing!
The year 2024 is almost about to give way to 2025. I was just thinking about all of the experiences and events that I have had to go through this year, and I realized that God has been good to me this year. I am grateful for the gift of life.
This year, I have had some memorable memories, memories that brought me joy, and I've also had some not-so-memorable moments one of which I’ll be sharing with you all.
Sometime in October, I had to go out with a friend. We had planned a meet-up earlier, so I was to meet him up at a particular location so we could go together to the place we were to go to.
I was to board at least two buses before getting to the meeting point. I boarded the first bus and got to the bus station where I was to get on the second bus, upon getting into the second bus, just a few minutes after we took off, the tire flew off from the bus.
At that point, everyone began shouting and calling on God or whatever they held dear. There was so much pandemonium in the bus as the bus kept on swerving from the left to the right. At this point, my heart was already in my mouth. I was so scared, I saw my life flash right before my eyes, but I kept saying this shall not be my end.
The most terrifying part was that we were on a bridge, the tendency of the bus falling into the ocean right beneath us was not something that one could easily come to terms with. It was such a struggle for the driver to bring the bus to a stop. He kept maneuvering the bus trying to bring it to a halt. By the time he was able to bring the bus to a halt, everybody on board rushed out of the vehicle.
Upon getting out, I put my hand over my chest as it had been beating so fast, I kept thanking God for preserving my life and that of others on the bus because some people have been in such situations and either made it out alive or came out hurt, but I came out unhurt.
After the whole experience, I was a bit paranoid for some weeks, I kept checking the wheels of most buses or taxis I took to ensure they were in good condition before boarding. I knew I couldn't really tell just by looking, it just helped me feel better somehow and I hated having flashbacks of the incident over and again.
So yeah this is one memorable experience that I had in 2024 that I won't be forgetting soon. I am grateful that I am alive to recount the experience and not someone else to tell the story on my behalf.
