What do you do when the floor of your room gets chilly?
The harmattan is still very much around over here, and my room floor is always as cold as a dog nose. This made me put on socks most of the time during the day, because my body system does catch cold easily.
I do love my socks so much and feels comfortable wearing them all the time; the problem is they get old easily because I will have to wash them frequently.
For today's creative Sunday, I thought of a solution to the problem: why don't I create in-house footwear so that I get to reserve my socks for use when I have to go outside only?
So guys, that is my footwear backstory. And now I get to share with you the step-by-step process.
I have got this very fluffy showel belonging to my son that he no longer uses; it makes a perfect material for the footwear.
Other materials needed are:
✓ Ruling tape
✓scissors
✓pen
✓ sewing machine
✓ sewing thread
It's very easy to make once I figured out how to accurately cut my size; the rest is easy. Only that I'm terrible at cutting ✂️ out shapes, and the right size 🤭 I had to practice with different pieces of materials before using my main material for the cutting.
To be honest, I felt like giving up at some point, but that would have been fucked up, so I persisted.
Step-by-step process:
Step 1:
I laid my material on the floor, placed one of my slippers on it to get the size of my foot, and I then measured it with tape. For the size of my leg, I measured 28 cm in length by 16 cm in height. I marked the measurements with my biro and used scissors to cut out the shape. I repeated this four times to cut out four pieces of clothes.
Step 2:
I folded two of the pieces into equal halves, placed a round object on the top, I marked the line with a biro, and then placed the object at the down part and marked out another shape line. After this I traced out the lines with scissors to get the desired shapes.
Step 3:
I placed a tape to mark out the sowing area.
Step 4:
I placed my shoe on the plain material to mark and cut out the soles. I repeated steps 2 to 4 to make the other pairs.
Step 5:
The sewing: Well, I do not have sewing machines at home, and I, as well, do not want to use just a needle and thread, but lucky for me, there is a tailoring shop, the owner a very welcoming elderly man, down my street. I made a little trip down to his shop and asked his daughter to walk me through the sewing process.
I put one of the pieces on top of the sole and sew it round. And in less than thirty minutes I was done sewing for the two feets, and I have my comfy footwear ready to keep my foot warm and comfortable.
Here is the final look. I love this so much; it feels so comfortable and kept my foot warm.
So comfy ❣️
I made one for my son, and he enjoys rocking it. I will probably make a few more soon so that we can be interchanging them and for my husband as well when I get another suitable material.
That feeling when you know your legs are covered from the chilly cold.
That is all for now, dearest hivers; have a blissful Sunday and stay in your positive energy. 😊

This was a very good idea. My mother makes woolen socks for me every year during the winter season, which gives relief to the feet from cold in the winter season. One thing I have noticed during the winter season is that the feet feel the coldest and these socks are very useful in such a situation.
If you put a thin sole underneath them, it would provide grip to your feet and would not wear out, making them useful for a long time.
Aww 🥰 Your mom is such a sweet mother.
You are right, during this chilly weather, the feet can suffer a lot from cold if we do not give them extra protection.
Extra sole, yeah, my husband said the same, I will look for and add them to the next one I will be making to make it last longer.
Thank you so much for your input. Have a great Sunday.
Most welcome

The girl was telling me how to sew it; she could have helped with the sewing, but I just wanted to do it myself; it was fun 😊.
