Hello, everyone, and welcome to another episode of Hive Learner's Creative Sunday Initiative with George Dee.

For today's HL Creative Sunday, I will show you how to make pie from potatoes, and I made use of plantains, fish, and peppers for the filling. There are different types of pie recipes, and it's my first time using potatoes for pie, even though it's not the first time I've made snacks out of them.

Potato is a natural sweet food, and it has a distinct taste in whatever you use it for. It is nutritious and delicious, so you don't have anything to worry about when trying out these simple pie recipes.

The ingredients used are:

  • Potato
  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Red
  • Pepper
  • Plantain
  • Fish
  • Seasoning cubes
  • Salt
  • Groundnut oil
  • Baking powder
  • Sugar
  • Milk flavor
  • Onions
  • Curry

Procedure

I started by processing the ingredients first, and it's very easy to get these things done, even though many people don't see it that way.

I cleaned the fish and boiled it with seasoning cubes and salt.

After boiling, I shredded the fish and removed the bones.

I sliced the onions, peppers, and plantains.I peeled the potatoes, cut them into smaller sizes, and boiled them.

After they became soft, I pounded them in a small mortar.

Lastly, I broke the eggs into a bowl and set everything aside.

Let's make the pie filling first.

I heated a little quantity of groundnut oil and turned the plantains into it.

I added the fish and allowed them to fry for a few minutes on low heat.

I added the onion and red pepper as well.

I added the seasoning cubes, salt, and some curry powder.

I stirred everything continuously while frying until the filling was ready.

Let's make the pie.

I turned the pounded potato into a container and added some flour to make it firm.

I kneaded a little before adding the eggs, milk powder
flavor, sugar, and baking powder and kneaded again.

I added some flour again to make the dough firm and set it aside.

I got my board and rolling pin since they will be doing the job of flattening the dough.

I sprinkled a small quantity of flour on the board before I cut a small piece of dough on it.

I did that to prevent the dough from sticking to the board.

I also sprinkled some flour on the dough and rubbed the rolling pin with flour as well, all to prevent any form of sticking to the board of the rolling pin.

I drove the rolling pin over the dough a few times, and after it had flattened, I added some filling and folded the dough.

The folding serves as a cover for the filling on the dough, and I sealed the opening of the pie with a fork.

After exhausting the dough, I went to the final stage of frying.

This pie won't be soaked in deep oil, so you don't need much oil.

I added a small quantity of oil to the pan and heated it for a few minutes on low heat.

I placed the pie gently in the pan and allowed it to fry for about a minute and a half on low heat.

I flipped the pie to the other side and allowed it to fry again for another one and a half minutes under low heat.

I checked both sides and made sure they were properly fried before removing the pie from the pan.

I repeated the process for the other pie, and my yummy potato pie is ready for consumption.

It is soft, delicious, and nutritious as well. It is a healthy snack, and there is no age restriction on it as long as you can chew.

Sure, you can use the oven if you want. It will come out just as fine as this as long as the fillings are properly prepared.
