Beyond The Season Glitters.

The festive spirit is the type that puts people in the mood for so many things, and spending money extravagantly is one of them. There are so many things to do during the season, lots of fun activities happening around us, and it's just difficult to look away when you are an extrovert who enjoys spending lavishly.

We definitely want to enjoy the season to the fullest, and many do not even care if it comes at the detriment of their finances. A lot of people go out of their means because of Christmas and I wish to ask them numerous questions. It's so bad that there are people who even run into debts which they will end up paying for few months in the new year.

I know it might sound like nonsense to some ears but the truth is that we really don't need to do more than we should all in the name of Christmas or trying to impress anyone because its festive season. It's pointless having all the fun in December only to go broke in January, but I can't blame people who find themselves in this situation a lot of the time because the temptation is high, and not everyone can resist the urge to keep spending.

Somehow, I have barely found myself in this situation, probably because I love to celebrate the season in the simplest of ways. I always have my budget for the whole holiday based on what I can afford and do try my best not to step out of it because I know the consequences.

Budgeting is very important regardless of how much you have to yourself for the season. I believe and know quite well that people go financially broke when there is no proper plan of how to manage funds. Despite the fact that I don't go out of my way for the season, I know how lengthy January can be mentally. The first month of the year doesn't end quickly when you have spent excessively in December, and I believe many people can relate to this.

Like I mentioned earlier, I don't joke with making a budget for the celebration. I make the budget with my family to ensure we are all on the same page for the celebration plans. Sticking to the plan has never been a problem, and whoever is doing anything outside the plan is definitely funding it.

Aside from budgeting, shopping for the season is done strategically. I ensure we get things before the festive rush begins, which automatically affects the price of goods drastically. I get items at a fair rate, plus I try to shop in stores where they sell at wholesale prices. These things go a long way in helping to reduce costs so I can automatically save some money for unexpected expenses.

Moving about during the season can be very expensive, so I moved strategically as well. I only step out when it's very necessary, and that barely happens because I always ensure that every task that requires moving about Lagos during the festive season is taken care of before bus fare becomes outrageous.

It's definitely not easy for many people to keep it simple during the festive season, and things may just take a new turn for them when they see Christmas just as a regular day despite its importance to Christians.

I do tell people that there is nothing you will eat or drink on Christmas Day that you haven't eaten in that same year so why put ourselves into troubles just for Christmas? I am happy and contented with my little and simple celebration since it doesn't deprive me of peace or food on my table in the new year.

Let me use this opportunity to wish everyone a beautiful Christmas celebration, cheers 🥂.

There's nothing wrong with simple things, after all, what's the essence of Christmas, right?

That's right and I even believe more in the simplicity of the season. The essence of Christmas for me is to have fun, rest, create beautiful memories and spread love in my little way. None of these requires spending extravagantly.

Indeed the festive season puts people in a lot of moods, some get into the mood of spending extravagantly and end up regretting it on the long run.

The regret is always premium and it is best not to even experience the repercussions at all.

It's normal to want to overspend because we see many attractive things and want to enjoy, but when we think of the repercussions, we'll know to manage everything well by planning, budgeting and sticking to plans.

One thing I noticed is that getting ones finance wrong in December can affect the new year terribly. While trying to cope, people run into more debt and before we know it, the new year is gone so it's best to just cut our clothes according to the yards we have.

I ensure we get things before the festive rush begins, which automatically affects the price of goods drastically. I get items at a fair rate, plus I try to shop in stores where they sell at wholesale prices.

Like, we are on the same page here👍 I knew chicken prices would go higher in this season, and just late October, we started rearing broilers, and it actually saved the cost of buying one at 27k.

It is good to plan well👌

That's a very good plan and I have a few here as well. I really want to expand my bird's space because in the situation of this country, we have to be smart.

Yes, I totally agree with you

That is right dear friend. What I discovered is that some people like to do what they do because they want to impress others. But what we should consider is after the season.
Thanks 👍

Trying to impress people makes no sense because when the problems come, it ends up being the impressor's problem.

It's best to just be yourself and live happily.
