2025 started with high hopes, lots of plans to achieve great things and it makes me feel happy seeing some of my plans working out already even though there are still so many things on my list for the year. For some of us, there are so many things we must accomplish because we understand the importance of growth. We definitely don't want to be the same person we were yesterday and we just keep moving even when the odds of success is slim.
The memories of the crossover night still feels very new like it was yesterday but in reality, it's the 14th of April already. 100 days has passed and if I am being honest, it hasn't been easy. I understand clearly that good things don't come easy in life but as long as there are results to show for the struggle, every bit of stress I have encountered is worth it.
While I count my blessings so far, the gift of life stands out for me because it's a privilege to still be here. I have traveled on the same road that claimed people's lives, I have survived illness that some people couldn't which explains why I said I am privileged. Everything I have achieved up till this moment is built on the gift of life- without life, nothing would have been possible.
The biggest of my plans for this year was getting a new apartment where I can live with my wife, somewhere that would support my plans to grow in different areas of life. It was quite a challenging task at the beginning of the year due to the hike in rent prices in Lagos and neighboring states.
I thought leaving Lagos is the only way to get exactly what I wanted at an affordable price but after speaking to an agent in Ibadan, I prefer to remain here. It took me over a month paying agents to show me properties before I could get exactly what I needed, something that also fits into my budget.
I did the necessary things and finally moved in February.
It took me almost a month to settle in properly and late in March, I started preparing to set up my business at home because my new environment supports it. Before now, I pay rents for my ponds and land owners aren't helping matters.
They believe being a fish farmer is lucrative, forgetting that we don't get fish feed for free. They are making things difficult and it's one of the reasons why I had to look for an apartment where I can do my business. After informing my landlord about my plans to use the space around the building, I swung into action. Firstly, I need to make a drainage connecting to a bigger one where I can flush my dirty pond water into and work has started already.
I will also erect a small barricade, putting boundary between my ponds and passersby. All of these weren't part of my plans but since this is the closest to the type of apartment I want, it's better I don't let it slip away.
In addition to the business I am into, I have built a small cage to house birds. It's not my first time doing this but it would be my first time commercializing it and I hope it works out well. So far, the first quarter has been super busy and like I mentioned earlier, the stress is worth it. I miss chatting on discord, hanging out with my Hive family over there but it's for a good purpose.
I want to appreciate the Hive community as a whole because my earning here has really helped in supporting me financially.
It might still take approximately a month to fully start business here but I see it happening comfortably which makes me a lot happy. My second quarter post like this will definitely show workings and I really thank God for His grace.

You have really hustled in these few months and i hope in the next months you get to achieve more of your goals. It isn't easy but we just need to keep on going.
It's not true but we will have ourselves to blame if we don't try our best. It looks like a long time to the end of the year but if we are being honest, it's not so we must start now pushing behind all our struggles while concentrating on what must be achieved.
In all these, the grace of God showed up for you and you're optimistic to do more in subsequent quarter this is awesome!!!.
Definitely, I believe the next quarter will definitely yield more results with God on our side.

Honestly, that's the biggest thing for me. Paying double rent hasn't been comfortable, this will help me save money and I can as well work with ease. It's easier to pump when you have your pond at home...

Oh wow. It has been a busy moment for you, George. Imagine paying agents inspections fee for every apartment you check until you finally get one. I thought it was a way for these agents to cheat us, perhaps it’s so because I had to pay, too, though twice until I got something I love.

Agents are now extorters and it's really annoying when they take you to places completely opposite what you told them.
I'm just glad I got what I needed in the end, I can sort things out from year and get back to business.
