Just Walk Away...

in Hive Learners5 days ago

There are so many things I do not understand in the world we live in today, and I doubt if it will ever be possible for me to understand the concept behind them because they seem abnormal to me. I don't like to use the word "hate," but that's how I feel towards these things, plus they don't make any sense to me.

Toxicity in any form of relationship tops the list of these things I hate to see in the world today, and it's difficult to imagine how so many people cope knowing fully well what's at risk. This has become rampant globally, and it's so annoying seeing the victims even going to lengths defending or protecting whatever problem they have gotten themselves in.

Some time ago, a video went viral, and I was disturbed to an extent thinking about what's happening with people.

In the video, a lady who had bruises on her body was advised by her friends to quit her toxic relationship. According to the narration, her boyfriend abuses her a lot, but this girl wouldn't just walk away.

In defense of how her boyfriend was abusing her, she said that the toxic guy pays her bills, so it would be a terrible mistake for her to walk away. She started mentioning how he buys her wigs and designer bags, and I began to wonder what kind of mentality the girl has.

I thought deeply about what could be the problem; could it be her upbringing or peer pressure? Because she has completely lost herself. I really wished to have a conversation with her, but that's not possible because I can become toxic while trying to knock some sense into her head if she tries defending her rubbish.

What many people don't think about is that if a boyfriend or girlfriend can treat you like trash, what do you expect from such a relationship eventually leads to marriage? I bet the guy or lady wouldn't do anything better, and automatically there is another broken home even before it was built.

The only time I was close to having such a thing, I walked away even before the relationship started because why on earth who anyone want to settle down for a toxic relationship?

From my interaction with people, one thing I realized is that many victims always feel like they don't have anything outside that relationship and automatically trap themselves in it. Their self-esteem has been reduced to zero and they see themselves as nothing.

There are those who believe that people change for good, and I really admire their faith in humanity. I like such a positive mindset, but they must understand that not everyone changes, and you can't be too sure of what's going to happen in the future. A lot of people have lost their lives to toxicity while believing in change, so it's not really a good idea believing in change at the detriment of yourself.

Being entangled in any form of toxicity isn't the end of life, and I believe it's best to walk away while you can still do that. Although it didn't lead to death for some people, they are automatically walking dead after experiencing multiple emotional trauma and mental health issues.

Like I mentioned earlier, the best solution when you find yourself in any form of toxic relationship is to walk away regardless of whatever benefits you might be getting.

This toxicity of a thing doesn't end with just intimate relationships; people experience it within the family, at work, and even in places of worship. I have seen people exhibit their toxic nature in unexpected places, and I am always like, What the hell is happening?

To assist the victims who feel trapped and do not defend their abuser, it's important to create a safe space for them as a society. Somewhere they can seek help, reach out to people, and not experience the usual condemnation they experience when they speak up.

My biggest fear is what's in all of this for the future generations because they are watching. Many kids today believe that these things are normal and wouldn't see it as a problem in the future. This way, breaking the cycle of toxic relationship globally will be very difficult.

The best way is to walk away but just like the girl you mentioned, I guess they are the type who aren't independent enough or that they have nothing doing to feed themselves, hence staying with such a guy until they are ruined in the end. Why would someone stay in a toxic relationship and endanger themselves because the culprit is giving them what they want? That's total foolishness to me.

Foolishness is even an understatement in this situation because I just can't wrap my head around why someone will choose to settle for an abusive relationship.

I hope people start having different perspectives about toxic relationships and make right decisions for themselves.

 yesterday

Yes oo. Right decisions to save themselves from a toxic relationship.

The world of today have really gone messy,
People now normalise Toxicity, and it's very true as you said that toxicity goes way beyond relationships, we see it every where now

It's really messy and that's one big reason why we must always protect ourselves. Once something turns toxic and we can't control it, it's best to just walk away for our good.

I think I saw that video too or I saw a different one, she said the guy hits her but apologised with bags and wigs for that reason she won't leave. Like where does this mentality come from?

I don't know bro, I have thought about it so many times but can't tell what exactly the problem is. Many of them usually end up losing their lives for not walking away when they should.

You know, sometimes I blame parents too because some parents enable their children to endure rubbish because of what they're earning or gaining from their so called in-laws or they're so cool, with their daughter suffering

Some parents are at fault really and they should be blamed but in many cases, these girls just choose that life because they think it's easy.

Regardless of who is at fault, this is a wrong mentality to live by.

Can you imagine that girl? I am not surprised because i have heard someone say that it is better she cry behind a jeep that smile while tracking and I see that as foolishness.

Many girls fail to understand that money is not everything, the moment there is signs of violence in a relationship of any kind I walk away. I just hope we get it all so as to save us from diverse stress

Can you imagine? Crying in a jeep and they say it like it's a big achievement.

I wish many ladies could emulate the lifestyle of many ladies on Hive who are working effortlessly day and night to make their lives better rather than enduring shit.

My dear, funny enough the lady that said that it's here on hive.

I just hope we get more sense sha so as to see beyond the now.

I don't think there is any need to continue a toxic relationship just for finance. In that case I think I should not consider the person as a human. If a lady consider a male as ATM machine then I think there is nothing wrong the male person think the girl as an object. Moreover, I don't think that a girl are so weak to arrange food for her to survive.

It's really sad seeing these things and nothing justifies why anyone should settle for a toxic relationship because it usually doesn't end well.
