Happy Sunday dear Hivers, Yay! It's another amazing week to start afresh and give our best to our respective goals. I hope you are all having a restful weekend to fill us with the right amount of energy needed for a new week.
Just like we do every Sunday in this wonderful community, I will be sharing with us the finishing details on a dress I made and stopped halfway through last week, it's a milkmaid dress I made for my cousin, who had her birthday last week, but sadly, I couldn't complete the process as the fabric I bought wasn't enough to make her a sleeve, you can find the full details of how I achieved the body part of the dress here as this post will be focused on how to achieve puffy sleeves.
I had to get an extra yard of the same fabric, thankfully, the fabric store I had gotten the previous material still had some left, as I had it in mind to get a plain-colored fabric, in case I couldn't find it at the store anymore.
Without further ado, let's get right into the making process.
Materials used
- floral crepe fabric
- elastic
- sewing thread and machine
Cutting and Sewing Process
- I started by cutting the sleeve pattern, the width was measured by doubling my armhole measurement, I also traced out the off-the-shoulder armhole sides and determined my sleeve length.
- Next, I folded the sleeve and joined the seam allowance of about one inch
- continuing, I folded and hemmed the base of the sleeve, creating a casing where I pass the elastic I have cut out which measures her round elbow measurement.
- Finally, using a gathered stitch, I sewed the upper side of the sleeves, before joining both sleeves to the sleeveless dress I made earlier,
And that completes the making process of this beautiful dress. See how happy and beautiful she looks in her dress. She adorned her dress to church today and came with positive feedback on how a lot of people complemented her pretty dress, listening to her as she narrated happily how her day went warmed my heart, making my day.
Here is me wishing you all a happy and productive week ahead.
