The Redundancy Of Certain Courses In Today's world

The world we live in is fast evolving as new technology that makes life easy gets developed daily, these technologies not only make life easy but tend to take over most professions/skills that required human labor in the past, while this is a good thing, the downside to it is that many jobs gets overtaken by AI as they are more proficient and fast even more than the human inputs.

Most of these professionals getting replaced have had to spend some number of years in school gaining this knowledge that eventually gets overtaken by AI, it is now of paramount concern that student needs to think carefully before choosing certain courses of studies, as they wouldn't want to spend those number of years for nothing, knowing that AI has already taken over that field.

One of such courses is Liberian studies, It wasn't too long a cousin of mine who recently relocated from her state of residence to mine asked if there was any Library in the neighborhood, of course, there was, and she has even passed there on several occasions without knowing there was a library there, I wouldn't blame her though, the place was as good as deserted, a place that used to be filled with students, especially during the weekends or exam period. Gaining access to information has been made easy through the help of the internet, and a device connected to it, it's uncommon to find any student talk more an adult without a phone, and just at the tip our fingers information from all over the world are provided in seconds, no need walking long miles to the library and searching volumes and volumes of books to find a piece of information. Now tell me why such a course shouldn't be scraped, any student looking forward to being a professional in their course of study shouldn't even consider this option, unless the course is upgraded in a way that blends with how we source information from the internet, making it still useful, and not the usual traditional way.

Another is Office technology, you would think that the technology in front of this course title is being put into practice in line with the modern technology evolution, but sadly it isn't in my country, how I came about this knowledge was going through the course outline of a friend that studies it, at this time and age, rather than equip these students with advanced computer database skills, they still walk around with typewriters and still trying to memorize shorthand language, like what the hell? That was my exact reaction, in this modern time where even with our smartphones, we can easily take recording of a meeting word to word, store data, make appointments or schedule which is basically what they do, can be done easily with the use of certain apps, better still, why not equip them with the knowledge of how to use these apps, or even build them, they would say, those are meant for computer science students, then what is the essence of still studying archaic methods, this course should be scraped in my own opinion.

In conclusion, if the schools can find a better way of upgrading these courses to meet the current time and demand, then there is no need for continuation.
