Newbies Task 8: Drawing The Curtains

Concluding My Experience in The Newbies Initiative

Like all good stories, my experience in the newbies initiative comes to an end but I take solace in the volume of information and knowledge acquired during these past 8 weeks.

Before I came across the post where I learnt of the newbies initiative, I was aware that there was so much in hive and I only knew very little about it but with my observational skills, I was convinced there was so much more. This was why immediately I learnt of the newbies initiative, I didn't hesitate to indicate interest and it is a decision I am very happy I took.

The lessons, the tasks, the games and everything was very beneficial to me. If I had another chance to do this again I would.

Now to my final task, let's go.

From the goals you made in your first task, recount on the progress made so far

My goals as outlined in my first task can be found here

As a newbie who has enjoyed his short stay on Hive and is committed to growing on the platform, my goal is to achieve a Hive power of 500HP (currently, I am at 132), a followership of 50 people (I have 39 currently). In terms of engagement, I plan to devote at least 30 minutes for engagement everyday and I plan to publish with a frequency of at least four (4) posts per week

My HP currently stands at 221, that is almost halfway towards my goals but yet quite far.
My followership rose and I currently have 47 followers which is 3 shy of my target.
I was able to engage and even exceeded my target on some days but I lacked some element of consistency as I was unable to come online for almost a week. Before my absence, I featured on Ecency leaderboards and was even in the top 3 position at some point.

I was not able to keep to my target of four posts per week as I became more and more occupied with school work but I was able to make posts at the slightest chance possible.

In addition, I also had a goal of reaching a reputation of 64 but I discovered that the reputation ladder gets harder to climb as you go up but I was able to grow from 60 to 62 during this initiative.

In general, even though I was unable to meet my target, I came very close and I am grateful for it. I will now build up on these afterwards.

What was your experience like during the 8 weeks of the Newbies Initiative? What did you get to learn from the initiative.

The experience was impactful and worth every second I put in. I learnt a lot, including but not limited to tags, tribe tokens and tipping, markdowns, buying and selling of tokens, hive efficiency tools and even following of curation trails.
I made posts about these as instructed on the tasks, you can check them out with these links;

Task 2

Task 3

Task 4

Task 6

If you were to contribute one thing to make the newbies initiative perform better, what do you think you can do?

If I were to contribute to the newbies initiative to perform better then it would be to reciprocate one or more of the lessons I learnt so that other newbies would benefit. It could be teaching about tribe tokens and tipping or about markdowns.

It could even be taking extra lectures that were not included like delegation of HP, RC and how to earn from it or powering up and how to do that.
I could also be a team leader and guide a team to knowledge and growth on Hive.

I would be willing to help if the need arises.

In conclusion, I want to thank the organisers of this initiative for taking out time from their busy schedules to ensure that it is a success. I really do appreciate.
