The Currency For Daily Spending

in Hive Learners2 days ago
Using crypto as a means of payment has not been a bad experience. It is considerably faster than fiat (when using transfer) it's definitely not faster than cash except we are talking of millions in cash.

It appears relatively safer because people would not likely know you have billions on your device unlike when you carry a million in cash.

Using crypto alone may not be a bad idea but of course it would come with it's own limitations.

It would be fast, secure and easy for the enlightened.
And because everyone is using it, it would also ensure that the excuse of "I don't do crypto" would not stand.

It would also reduce the stress that comes with having to trade crypto to fiat especially in countries where crypto is not accepted. In these countries, people run into trouble trading crypto while people are defrauded by colleagues who are more enlightened all in a bid to help them.

Come to think of it, why would one convert crypto to fiat? Its just to spend as fiat. No one eats a currency, so if a currency is accepted no one cares, just spend it and get the goods or services you want.

But because crypto is not accepted in some places, it becomes necessary to first convert it before beginning to spend.

All these would be bypassed if crypto was generally accepted as the sole currency.

But...
Which crypto? All of them? Aren't they too much?

The fluctuating price of crypto would make it an unreliable currency for everyday trading.
Use hive for instance, trading at $0.45 earlier in the year, $0.32 sometime last week and now $0.24.

It becomes difficult to deal with due to the rapid rise and fall. One would either be in massive gain or massive loss if it was adopted as a means of exchange.
Some coins are even more volatile and hence more unsteady for such use.

Also, funds could just disappear in crypto. Into thin air (or so we are made to believe)

A few months ago, a friend of mine sent 18 HBD belonging to me to a binance wallet. It left his hive wallet but never arrived at the binance address. What happened?
HBD is not listed on binance.

So why didn't you just say, "the destination doesn't support the currency" or stuff like that?
You know how you were trying to share MTN airtime to a GLO number and they tell you ahead of time that it would not work? Exactly, it's a similar situation.

So imagine someone doing business using hive and a client mistakenly sends sol or another crypto currency and it vanishes. It won't be a good story to be told.

Even fiat has a way of recovering funds. Why won't crypto have a way of doing similar.
I don't believe the money disappeared, I believe the exchange took it as "manna from heaven".
Which is why crypto cannot yet serve as a lone means of exchange.

The tendency to be scammed through crypto is high. Possibly higher than fiat.
