Everything that has an upside does have its downsides as much. In the primitive era, gaining access to good information was really a challenging thing. Back in the days, to have reliable information about a certain community, one had to travel for days to get that information. Mostly the constituency of that information was usually the aged, so any history they didn't share is gone forever.
Some of the elders who are corrupt in their ways will demand one or two from those who are seeking that knowledge; at times they have to twist it in such a way it will suit them. Growing up, my mom got us introduced to the library because not all the books she was able to buy for us, so we went to the library to read, especially during holidays, and we had the privilege to borrow books from the library. Usually a specific time frame is given when you will return these books, and when you fail to do so, a certain charge is given that you will pay.
This was how I continued my life till after my university days that I got access to a good phone. Presently, I can't remember when in the past I paid a visit to the library, though there is one in my city. The library in my city is well equipped. Not too long ago, news came that some equipment in the library was sold off. Unfortunately, one of my husband's friends bought a solar panel from the person that sold the equipment. Later on it was said that the police were after those that bought those pieces of equipment that were sold off.
The news later spread that no one was given orders to sell off anything. Now it is obvious that some group of persons is using the library to make money for themselves. For everyone to have access to information at his disposal does have two sides to it. In the world that everyone claims to have freedom of speech, the rate by which fake news flies up and down becomes so easy. Well, no wonder when you watch some channels they will inform you that the video is an amateur one, that's to say It wasn't recorded by a professional.
Anyone comes up to cook anything he wishes to just to drag traffic to himself. This has made many fall into diverse trouble. That it has done sides doesn't make it so bad; in fact, anything that is good will always have an imitation. No matter how the imitation tends to grow, it won't stop the good from spreading. Personally, the fact of having access to information from the confines of my home is a real blessing to me because it has made life so easy for me. Imagine those years that I have to walk kilometers so as to gain access to the library, and sometimes on getting to the library I will end up sleeping for a long time just to regain my lost energy.
Comparing we and our predecessors, I will say to a good extent we know more than them because we will get to have access to things that are happening in far countries, like in those days that just a few are constituents of vital information. The thing that will make us smarter now is when we apply the information we have at our disposal properly. My take on the current topic in the Hive Learners contest week #150 and the second edition. Thank you, friends, for reading through my blog.
Comparing the old and new it's expedient that we apply the knowledge to have an advantage.
Thanks for sharing
Yes, the application of the knowledge we have now we make us ahead truely
I don't really think there is any comparison because both had their advantages and disadvantages. But than God for growth
Yes, the growth made things different, the correct application of what will know will make it to be more appreciated
Yes
I also believe having access to information and good knowledge is a blessing. Imagine I have kids who I want to learn one thing or another; I will have to take them far from me to someone else to teach them. Apart from the knowledge they get from school, parents can also impart their own knowledge to them; there are videos on ethics that kids can watch and learn from. Basic knowledge like this should be accessible to anyone.
Yes, basic knowledge should be free to all
A similar scenario happened to me when I went to college. It was difficult to find good books in the college library, so many people used to take the help of mobile phones, but to tell you the truth, there was more destraction and less study on mobile phones. When I completed college and one day I checked my mobile phone data backup, I found that there were about 5GB of notes and I had hardly read any of them properly. This happened not only with me but with other people as well that there were so many things and the biggest thing was destraction.
