Greetings to everyone here, it's being a wonderful time here and I want to appreciate @prayzz for the lecture giving about what stage 02 entails and other directives given by @kronias. I go through all and here i am to give my own understanding about the topic SECURITY KEYS ON HIVE.
Hive Security Key simply means access to one's account and protection from danger or thief, it helps in securing account from being tampered with by another person. The account can only be accessed with these security keys, The security keys are needed in every of the account operations like posting, powering up or down, delegation and transferring fund from one person to another.
Importance of Hive Security Key
Hive Security Keyboard is very Important because without these keys, all operation cannot be performed, If the keys are lost, the access to the account will be lost or if someone else have access to the key, such person might steal from the account or use the account in a way that is unfavourable to the owner. Because of all these importance, it is necessary to keep it in as many secured places as possible to avoid losing the account if one secured place is lost, one can easily get the key from other secured places.>/div>
How To Locate Hive Security Key
To get these security keys, after logging in to Hive platform, then click on wallet.
After clicking on wallet, it will take us to this interface where we will click on Keys and permissions.
And it would take us to where the keys are, this is my private active key, to get this key, all I have to do is to click on reveal at the end of the key, same thing to the other keys.
Function/Permission Of Hive Security Key
There are four (4) basic Security keys of Hive and I would be listing and explaining the functions of each keys below.
- MASTER KEY.
- POSTING KEY.
- ACTIVE KEY.
- MEMO KEY.
MASTER KEY
As it name sounds, this key is the greatest of all the keys, It can also be called Owner key. This key can be used to generate other keys like posting and active key, it is also used to recover account.
POSTING KEY
Posting key is basically used to post, comment and reply, it can also be used to follow another user, re-blog another post, upvote or downvote.
ACTIVE KEY
The active key is used for power up, power down, to exchange fund and to transfer fund from one user to another.
MEMO KEY
Memo key is used to encrypt and decrypt during fund transfer, also to send private message.
Measure I take to Keep my key safe
After being told of the importance of these keys, I ensure I keep it at many secured places that I alone have access to like in my hard drive, my phone drive and laptop. And in fact, I have kept it written down as well and totally offline to avoid attacks from fraudsters that might lead to loss of my account which led to going back to old school days by writing it down.
BOTTOMLINE
