RECOGNIZING SIGNS OF BURNOUT AND TAKING ACTION

in Hive Learnersyesterday

There is this phrase I grew up hearing a lot “do the right thing at the right time”. For me, this means so much especially in these times we are in. These days, working gets hard and tiring to a point that we just want to give up even when we are very sure that there is so much at stake. Most times, we find ourselves lucky enough to work our dream jobs but after some years of doing what we enjoy, we start burning out or start feeling the need to just take a break first or even looking for a new job to do.

There are many reasons why this happens but for this post, I will only mention the few I have experienced myself. So in response to the Hivelearners topic on “WORKPLACE BURNOUT”, I will be sharing some reasons why this happens and some possible solutions to this problem. As we all know, one of the biggest motivations behind working is the fact that we can afford the things we need when we need them. And the other motivation is that we are doing what gives us joy and pleasure. Other things that makes us work, is just the idea that we don’t want to be idle or to get the opportunity to learn new things and skills.

The problem of workplace burnout can occur as a result of the environment your workplace is located at. It could be because of the kind of coworkers you work with. It could be because of your employer. It could be because of your personal problems and so much more. The moment we start feeling burnout at work, it might also be due to the low pay or due to the fact that we are working but not getting just as much income as we put into the job. In a case of low pay, it’s even harder if that individual has only one skill. But for those that are multi-skilled, they can easily look for a different job to work on.

So, one of the ways to avoid burning out is to be willing to accept whatever the pay is and if you are not satisfied, you can as well look for a new job and accept the pay. Know that, no matter what happens, there might be no increase along the way but you will still give your best to that work. If you are not satisfied with what you’re paid, this is one of the major reasons why people burn out because somewhere in their head, they calculate how they should get an increment at some point and when that increment is not forthcoming, they start feeling burnout. They start feeling they are putting in too much effort and this will affect them.

The next solution is to always learn to do things at the right time. Once there is a work to get done, make sure to do it within the stipulated time period and don’t extend it no matter what. The moment you leave a part of a job undone, that’s the surest part to burning out. Don’t think a job is too small or too big and chose to wait for later when you can actually start working on it now. The more piled up work you get, the more you start feeling discouraged and frustrated about your job even though it is something you enjoy doing.

In cases when you have a lot to do almost at the same time, start with the simple things first because one thing is, the more you achieve a goal, small or big, it motivates you to do more. So the trick is getting more things done in a short time so you can feel motivated to do the others. It’s possible to also start with the harder things but then, it will only make you burn out more. The more we see the result of something, the more we become curious of what the actual results will be like and before we know it, we have covered everything that needs to be covered.

This is my response to the question. Thanks for reading through. ❤️

Your points are valid approaches to addressing workplace burnout. Burnout can take place if you don't get the desired results and some other factors as you have said in your write-up.
We only need to acknowledge the root cause of the burnout and tackle it according to our perspective.

Thanks for sharing.

Emphasis of “do the right thing at the right time.” Sometimes, we procrastinate and end up piling things to do. “I will do it tomorrow or I’ll do it the day after tomorrow.” Piling up work can become too stressful to handle, which is why it is important to do the right thing at the right time.

In cases when you have a lot to do almost at the same time, start with the simple things first because one thing is, the more you achieve a goal, small or big, it motivates you to do more.

I totally agree with you. This works well for you. When I have many books to read, I start with the one with the least pages. Works like magic.

Thanks for sharing, love.

Procrastination is a killer of dreams and whoever said that wasn’t lying at all. It’s just these little things, I will do it later and that’s how later turns into a whole working week and before you know it, little has become big and your workload increased. I wonder how that won’t burn anyone out.

I’m glad it works for you too, love. Thanks for stopping by. ❤️

Not me admiring your pictures first because that’s what I’m actually here for😚😚

Okay now, what were you saying?
Yes, that’s right. It’s important to start with the little things first ( me saying this knowing very well that’s not what I do)

Let me go back to admiring your pictures😍
